I managed to get 322 miles before the fuel light came on in my P1 last weekend.

About half of those were motorways miles, although and the tank was full with £47 Optimax. I average about 270.

 

Bloody hell thats good, was you doing 60mph (ie off boost) on motorway to achieve that?

I always try to get at least 200 miles out a tank in my P1, best ever was 250 miles! Though saying that i can never resist to be off boost

 

I tried to keep off boost for the whole tank, but I must admit I did slip a few times. Like you say You Just Can't Help It......

I was doing a constant 80mph when on the motorways, but kept a very light foot whilst in traffic etc.

I drive around with drivers window down and listen out for the dump valve, if I hear it I know i'm pressing too hard on the accelerator. I find it a good way to help keep the fuel bills down!

 

My record is 321 before fuel light comes on - although on motorway managed 311 with a little bit left but a long way to next optimax stop.

 

I am lucky to get 200 at any time from a WR1!

I used to get about 28 MPG out of my P1 doing a steady speed on the Motorway. Haven't tried this in the WR1 one yet, I'm having too much fun

 

I managed 270 this weekend in my P1 the average before must only be 190 to 210 usually. Its difficult to get optimax all the time round were i live but i find the car alot more effiecent running optimax than SUL.

I got about 24 mpg from mine whilst i was running it in but it's gone down to just over 17 mpg now. I think it happens when the other half takes the car to work...

I have an 04 STI with PPP. I reckon it can drink quicker than the boys at the weekend. I swear you can see the needle move as you begin to use the old right foot. After the first 1K service, Ihad a bit of fun but only got 170-ish until the light came on.

I got 180 miles from £43 of optimax on the motorway it doesn't seem to matter if I drive it hard or not! (MR FQ320)...tis a bugger

 

Posted on here that I got 156 miles to £25 worth of Optimax,the other day in the WR1.Next time it was 115 miles to £25 ,so not very scientific.Its hard to drive economically when the right foot creates so much fun!!!!!!

Regualy get near 300 miles from a tank in my WR1 with a mixture of driveing some m/way, some town and some 15 mile trips back and forth to girlfriends and a bit of thrashing thown in throughout each tank. Got 345 miles out of 53L on motorway at steady 80 mph reacently and its only done 2000 miles so far so not fully loosened up yet.

 

Not a sad thread at all. I certainly care about my mpg. Its my everyday car, and as well as driving it for please I also commute on motorways. I average 250 ish out of a tank and have got 320ish once (P1). I have had a typeR that only managed around 180 mpg, and it was a proper pain in the **** stopping all the time for petrol. And of course it may be around £10 a fill saved.

I kind of accept the fact that I will only get around 200 miles to the tank (bit more with motorway driving) - must be some very light right feet out there! (and I don`t consider myself a "hard" driver. Had MY99 UK turbo got 3ys + in standard form, then with full decat, then postal ECUTEK 2.5 (John Banks special), and noe TSL custom remap. Fuel economy actually improved since TSL remap.(Prersuming postal map was richer/safer regrds runnig leaner). Usually now a guaranteed 200 miles now with mostly urban driving, and possible 250miles on long motorway run @80mph.

As posted on another thread, managed 37mpg last week. I can manage about 350 miles on a 50L tank before I bottle it and find a petrol station. I think I could just about get 400 miles out of it if I was very careful and had a petrol can on standby

 

Do Classics and new-age STi's have a different size tank to new-age WRX's? My tank - 03 WRX - is 15 gallons (68.2 lt). Are you sure you're all calculating your MPG correctly?

300 miles from a full tank is a ****-poor 20mpg but it's definitely worth it for the fun factor.

From what I know...

MY94 - 96 = 50L (11 gallons)
MY97 - 00 = 60L (13? gallons)

Don't know about the later models. I don't go be what's in the tank, only by how much I need to fill it up to the top. The lowest I've taken it is when I've been able to out 48 liters in which means there was approx 2 L left in the tank (about 15 miles worth)

 

I only managed 119 miles from a full tank (50l) last weekend

For all those saying that you're not having fun driving at 30+ mpg... I *can* and *do* have fun sometimes... It's just that I don't see the point in wasting petrol on a boring trip to and from work everyday. Why get stressed about passing other cars when I can cruise also and not worry...

 

I regularly drive slowly to and from work and when visiting the GF. I find that it makes the car feel quick when I do boot it, otherwise I get used to power and it doesn't feel so fast. I always want that feeling from when I first drove one!

 

Guess it all depends on what the route to/from work is like (many "twisties") {;o)
and therefore the temptation to "press on that bit harder".
