Default Detailing clay

Has anyone used any to sort their paintwork out?

How did you find it? Was it worth the hassle?
Who/what do you recommend?

Ollie,

It's definitely worth it. Try Meguiars, as it's good value. IIRC it's £11.99 for the clay and quick detailer spray. I hear than 3M do a good range of clays too, but have not tried them. Just read the instructions, take your time and you'll love the results. Especially if your car is feeling a little rough to the touch.

Thumbs up

if your not feeling energetic use meguiars clear coat body scrub paint cleaner, it is a lot easier to use and gives a good finish ready for waxing.

I bought the meguairs clay bar and at first I wasn't all that impressed - I had lots of little bits of caked on bird crap that it didn't get off.

Decided to give it another go and I think the trick is to not go overboard with the detailing spray that comes with it (spray smells delicious BTW)

The bar needs to slightly stick to the surface which only comes about after a good bit of rubbingand the spray is wearing thin. It Doesn't feel like you're taking anything off but look at the bar afterwards and it's filthy - esp when doing the lower halves of your doors.

IMHO - you need to wash again after you've used it - the tackiness it needs leaves marks behind. The Quik Detailer is excellent as a stand-alone product - will deffo buy again.

I've used the elasti-clay from www.erazer.co.uk and as said above it doesn't leave any smears. I've also tried the Einszett products from the same site and was very impressed. Top stuff for sensible money.

The Swissol one is excellent & is great vale for money due to its size & quality
One quick tip Save the quick finish for instant detailing & lubricate very well with car bath in warm water instead
Always ensure that the clay bar is used when pliable & well lubricated !
Also shouldnt take long to clay bar a car ! Not the hours that people say !!!!

I dont think that you will find that Mark is a Swissol distributor now, his details dont seem to be on Swissols web site for some reason !

I am willing to arrange a group buy if anyone is interested !
