Question Dawes Device Q`s

Please accept my apologies because this must have been asked before, but I`m new and couldn`t find it with `search`

What is a Dawes device? (is it basically a bleed valve)
Is it safe to use?
Is it worth getting?
How much?
From where?

I have a `95 WRX (with a K&N induction kit)

Thanks
Paul

This site (scroll down to the bottom), or this site should answer most of your questions.

You can get them from the second site above, or from here.

Be extra careful if you go for it, as you've got a JDM. Have you got a ScoobyECU to cater for UK fuel? Or are you running it on Optimax and NF Race...?

I`m affraid i`m new to this.

What do you mean by JDM?

It runs on Optimax or Ultimate plus octane booster.

JDM is Japanese Domestic Market.

Japanese Fuel is 100RON. UK fuel is anywhere from 95-98 RON. Optimax is the highest rated fuel (98RON) and may be ok in most cases. If you add octane boost you will get 100 RON, same as Japanese fuel.

The judge is just saying that if you up the boost you need to make sure you use good fuel unless it is remapped.

Have you got the essential monitoring equipment - boost gauge, AFR gauge, Knocklink...?

Only have a boost gauge atm

Looking at getting the Knocklink sensor, sounds very worthwhile from what I have read on here already.

Thanks for the help.

Very worthwhile indeed, especially for a JDM car...
