Red face Warning new scam

Hi,

Just had this e-mail from our works security, though I would pass it on to you fellow Scoob's

This is to advise you of a number of vehicles are being intentionally damaged. The scum bags will leave you a note on your screen asking you to call them to discuss insurance etc. The aggrieved makes contact providing his/her details address etc , and then whilst at work the persons house is burgled. In all cases the spare car keys have been taken from the house and the scum then return the the persons place of work and nick the car!!

******* Aholes !!!!!

Like all such warnings, this screams "urban myth" to me. Can't find anything on Snopes, but I'm still suspicious.

Message to all *******:

Don't damage my beloved Evo. Drop me a pm and I'll tell you my address, and the times I won't be there.

Thanks for listening.

It's an offense to just leave your details under the wiper. Contact the police and have them contact the offending party.

Smells a bit fishy to me.

I have no idea whether this is an 'urban myth' or whatever...but....

They wouldn't need to know anything about you, as in where you worked or if you where there - at least the way I understood it.

For example, it sounds to me like they (would) spot the car they want in the work car park; then they damage it and leave a note; you make contact with them and give them all your details; they pop round your house and 'tidy up'.

They would know you are out by, well, however burglars usually do I guess...

They wouldn't need to know anything about you as they would just spy your Scooby/BMW/Audi/Porsche - probably/possibly the first time they had seen it.

exactly.

but more to the point it seems as though the main aim of the break in is to find your spare set of keys.........
