what turbo are you running?

 

stock turbo for my98
unichip but was only kicking in at aroung 2500 - 2800 before....
hope its not some kind of sensor failure :>

id be super chuffed if mine did that mine comes in at 4000 rpm.

 

4000 !!!!! thats ridiculous ....
may as well drive in 1st gear all the time to enjoy ur boost

mr smash - are you using a tdo5 turbo? As I am and mine comes in about 3500-4000rpm, but when it starts to spool it comes in real strong!

 

yeah m8 TD05H...and yeah in 1st gear it comes in about 4500rpm but when it does it nearly snappes my kneck...although in other gears its 4000rpm ..tbh i thaught this was a fault but im starting to think this is normal...what car is yours mines a my96 wrx?

 

Mines a 95 WRX with the following mods:
Decatted
HKS Superflow induction kit
Apexi full system from turbo back, think 3.25 inch going to 4.5 backbox
Blitz Dump Valve
Blitz dual SBC Boost controller

Im running 4 stage boost and on stage 3 which i normally keep the car at it is set to 1 bar.

From the sounds of things this seems normal for the late boost.
I thought it might have been my actuator but whehn the boost comes in it is held to redline and doesnt tail off.

Gonna go and get the car setup by my mechanic and see if he can suggest anything, dont think there is any leaks in hoses, downpipe, manifolds etc..

Now i heard that in 5th gear the car should be spooling at 1 bar at 3000 rpm ie full boost for stage 3 but on mine it doesnt happen till about 3800-4000rpm.

Starting to get a bit pissed of with the car and ive only had it 2 weeks.

We will have to keep in contact as our problem seems very similar and if i find out what it is this weekend, when im due to see me mechanic ill get back to u!

 

yeah m8 im running 1 bar as well with a mbc and have a H&S decat system so quite similar[although im sure i should be getting full bosst about 300/400 rpm sooner but im working on that at the moment ..will let u know if i sort it out.
