Coming to work this morning, warrington, a lorry almost took
my front end away.
I'm in the middle lane he is in the left lane no one in right lane,
Our lanes go straight, as I'm just at his side he decides he's in the
wrong lane indicates right and suddenly goes for the right lane,WTF.

I brake so hard the milk (luckily plastic bottle)and my bag end up on the
dash, Thank **** I upgraded the brakes. He misses my bumper by mm's.

0.5secs later and I'd have been underneath big style.

i had a near death experience 3 yrs ago in an MX5 and it brought it
right back, adrenalin was pumpin.

Couldn't giv him peice of mind as he shot down the slip road with me
blastin the horn.

I'm sure he had seen me as I saw his face in the mirror, Wxxxker.

Was it a normal right hand drive lorry ? as there seems to be a blind spot on left hookers ,think 5th Gear did a bit about it once . Or was it just that the driver was a complete wan*er ?

If he was in the left lane and you were in the middle lane,why would he pull over to the right hand lane if he was going to go up the slip road?

Always be careful when passing a truck. As with bikes, make yourself seen, pass quickly etc.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who's in the right or wrong, you'll be the one that's crushed.

 

"If you can't see my mirrors I can't see you" as the sign usually goes

 

"If you can't see the space you're moving into, then don't bloody move" would also apply to the lorry driver

 

Hi guys

It's a large roudabout going onto a dual carriageway,
he had decided that he was gonna go onto the motorway
instead of the carriageway and thats how he ended up comming accross
my lane.

It was a right hooker so I think he basically had total disregard
for anyother motorists, if my 3 week old and 17 month old daughters
had have been in I'd have freaked out.

Some people just seem to change in cars, hence road rage, but
outside the protection of a vehicle they are so different.

Like said makes you a bit warry coming past lorries and points out
how vulnerable we are.

had this in one of my old cars but i was right beside the hgv, lucky there was no other cars in the right hand lane (fast lane) as i had to swerve into it because the hgv still kept changing lanes as i was blasting him all the way till i over took him and pulled in front of him and gave him the bird.

 

I had one the other day on a roundabout. It was a dual carriage way over a motorway, I was in the right hand lane and the 40ft wagon in the left. As I got to the other side of the roundabout he decided he was going to change his mind and go right. I know for a fact if I was in my old car I would never of accelerated out of the way in time.

 

there is all so a blind spot on right hand drives as well

have 1 every other day fekin car drivers

people wanting to come off the motorway at the last minute and all that ****,or over take then slam there brakes on

maybe he was inexperienced and couldn't judge where the rear of his vehicle was, no defence but maybe a reason.

the blind spots arn't at the rear of the truck they are, on the passenger side anywhere from roughly the landing legs on the trailer area (if its an artic) to about 2 car lengths in front of the truck. its not quite as bad on the drivers side, once you draw level with the side window you can be seen, but how many people notice which side the driver is sat every time they overtake a truck? my advice never run alongside trucks, or at least in 25 foot radius around the cab, especially in traffic jams, when its harder for the driver to keep track of where cars are around him. when negotiating corners or roundabouts when close to a truck, always drive as far away from the truck in your lane as you can and don't use a racing line ie. if truck is on your left, drive as far over to the right all the way round and don't cut away to the exit as soon as you it, keep to the right. and vice versa if the truck is on your right. don't potter down slip roads, come down faster than the traffic you are going to join then you have the option to brake to fit into a gap and still not be traveling at a dangerously low speed, don't expect trucks to move out into the next lane as this slows up that traffic and puts you into a blind spot.

As Stevie says sound advice, which I follow almost to the letter. And to which a lot of drivers on the road need reminding - it's basic common sense. If you put yourself in the least dangerous circumstance, then there is less chance you will get involved in a situation like the one mentioned. You may have legal right of way...but a truck ALWAYS has the physical right of way
