Unhappy

thjis week end i can hear a ticking noise from the engine bay area, when i drive and seems load when i stop, it even continues 4 several seconds when i turn my engine off!!!
after lifting the bonnet i could tell that it comes from a cylinder thingy that is bolted to the left hand side (as you look from the front) wheel shock absorber thingy, it has other electrical 'plug-in' clips around it. i feel it ticking when i put my fingers on it!
any ideas???? is it serious?

UK turbo MY97, 58k miles, regular service only in april
i have a pic if you want to see what area i mean of the engine.

Salsa, this is a common problem. If you read the FAQ, you may find that it is the waste gate solenoid. Ticks like crazy. If your car is still under warranty take it to a dealer, they should all know about it. If its not under warranty try the following taken from the FAQ....

If your wastegate solenoid does pack up, the fix is to pull the T shaped supply hose off and fill it with brake cleaner from an aerosol. Then go for a blast before the cleaner evaporates. Tippex thinners also do the job.
