standard suspension replacement.
Hi there,
My MY99 WRX has shot suspension, the front struts are terrible.
I dont do track days any more, but I love my b-road blasts. I also have a family and 'another' on the way.
Im seriously thinking of going for std uk car suspension. If i remember correctly, you could buy the struts for about 2p somewhere, but i can't remember. Any ideas.
Or am i going mad, and missing the oportunity to get something good and keeping the missus 'with bump' happy.??
andy
(ps still track the fireblade though

I think I would go for a P1 stock set-up for your WRX, maybe the suspension from an Sti v3 or similat. This is a very nice road 'system' and better than Coil-overs and all that jazz.
You won't get it for 2p, but you won't become a dad prematurely either!
Good luck on both counts

www.autospares-group.co.uk (or something along those lines) sell new dampers for around £50 per corner.

P1 suspension is superb, i've loved every drive of one. £300+fittng+spring per corner is a bit much for the amount of driving i do in her though.
KYB, is that std struts .. ?
Shall probably go for that, but there seems to be a few types. Confused as to which to buy. As I have junked the 18" in favour of the std 16" rims, and also the fact that most cars I drive handle just as well, if not better than the impreza,on softer suspension, i am erring on softish suspension.
roads in the north west of england are awful, I need something to soak up the bumps and not bounce off the road.

The KYB's are the stock subaru units. A set of Sti struts would be cheap from the GradeA breakers, bolt straight on and give you near P1 'enjoyment'.
Mind you, if replacements are £50 a corner, that is good value, but will involve extra labour to swop it all over.

I was thinking of upgrading my My00 Uk spec to have sti5/6 or p1 setup but just couldnt justify the cost ( 1.3k new ) and didnt want to spend £500 odd for 2nd hand set - not fitted - that didnt have any guaranteed life expectancy.
Im a bit strapped for cash at moment so in the end i just went for the Kyb standard replacements ( instead of kyb adjustables ) which were £260 from Camskills. As it happened i decided to fit these myself at the weekend so could have got adjustables with the cash i saved..doh!
These are fitted to eibachs ( + ALK,ARB, bumpsteer, strut braces) and i get decent enough ride for my spirited moments as well as it being sociable for my 9 month old. My original OE parts were only 4 years old and had done 32k but definitely past their sell by date despite what the dealer thought!! Suffice to say the handling is improved no end just for replacing these.
Seriously think about fitting these yourself if you are reasonable compotent with a spanner....its surprising easy if you follow some of the instructions.. then you have more cash to spend on parts
