Unhappy Knocking noise over large bumps.

Since lastnight, i've been experiencing a rather loud knocking/clucnking noise from the nearside rear.

With 4 people in the car, i'm getting the knock when i hit most bumps..
With just me, or 2 people in the car, it takes a bit more...but still sounds as loud.

Last week the car got a whiteline ARB fitted, complete with new mounts etc.

Having been under the car and checked the ARB and all the mounts, everything looks fine.

Also, the handling doesn't seem to be affcted either. (that i can notice)

Any suggestion as to what it could be ??
The car is running standard shocks, with H&R springs.

Thanks
Johnny

Could be Dave.
But theres not even any marks where anything would hit.
Passengers in the back kacked themselves everytime i hit a bump.

It`s a pretty weird ARB..i`ll try post a pic.

sok about the pic m8, unless it's devastatingly different from the original, as i know what it looks like can't say mine does it now, but supposedly there is small differences in the cars through the years and if the arb isn't bang in the centre, it wont help.

ment to say, there probably wont be much in the way of marks until you driven it for a couple of weeks. what you could try is wrapping it in a lot of masking tape. therefore you should be able to see the marking appear if indeed it is the arb thats knocking

Yeah, me mams work..but it`s getting time to use it.
Just thought it may be something common, although, considering the arb is the only new thing done, it really points at it.

Wonder if it is this....

After I put on a Scoobysport centre exhaust section ( bear with me here! ) I got an irritating bang from the near side when going over bumps or pulling off.

Turned out the new exhaust must have been a few mm shorter than OE, and the ( also ) Scoobysport back box was being pulled forward, and hit the Whiteline thicker a/roll bar when moving off etc.

Initially I wrapped it ( the a/r bar ) in pipe wrapping ( the stuff used to lag central heating pipes and roll cages! ) and finally a chum made me a spacer for the centre to back box joint to push the back box back 10 mm ( cheers Fuzz! ) and voila no more bangs.

Get under the car on wheel ramps and swing the back box about a bit back and forward .. se if it hits anything!

Worked for me

Neil

Hi Neil.

Turned out to be the shock.
Managed to get a look at it in dry weather, and it was leaking quite badly.
So seems it was bottoming out over the slightest of bump at a decent speed.
