Question KYB adjustables & top mounts for classic

Hi Folks

Im thinking of buying a set of KYB adjustables to fit on my classic ( MY00 ) and just have a few questions about fitting:

Are these well matched to the Eibach Pro springs? ( and a Whiteline ARB )

Are these a direct swap for the OE dampers? - i.e. no hacking about is needed like some replacements.

Do I need new top mounts? ( I have seen another thread that mentions the KYB's are 14mm and the existing OE ones are 12mm )

On the subject of top mounts, some people are upgrading these -some to sti spec and some to adjustables? I understand the adjustables ( to a degree ) but what are the benefit of upgrading to sti ones?

Thanks in advance
Rich

Hi
I fitted the KYB AGX shocks and sti top mounts about a week ago. I have the eibachs on as well.
The shocks seem to be well matched to the eibachs, and can be set to family mode or me on my own mode quite easily.
They are a complete unit so you dont have to use the existing strut.(no cutting) Apart from the brake line hole. This can either be cut for ease or undothe brake line from the caliper and put it through the hole. Personal preference me thinks.
I changed the top mounts, because i suspected that one of them was worn, so natural progression was an upgrade.
I opted for the sti ones because the adjustables increase the ride noise and can make the ride crashy, because they have no rubber to absorb the energy from the shock.
The car is transformed. It now handles like I imagined it should.
Highly recomended.

Hi Jt

Thanks for quick answers, there really helpful. yeah I have the same need for the adjustables, soften them when the little un is there ( dont want what little teeth he has too fall out prematurely ) but want a decent fast road setup for when I feel the urge.

Just few clarification questions...

which year car do you have?
do you know if existing OE top mounts be ok if i dont upgrade to sti ones?
where did you source your shocks and sti mounts from?

Thanks

Rich

Hi
I have a MY00 UK Turbo
I have just measured the the old top mounts hole, and it looks like they are the same size as my new ones. So they should be OK.
The shocks i got from www.camskill.co.uk for £485
The top mounts were from graham goode for £59.98 +VAT each.
The main reason for changing top mounts was front drivers side was worn, so I just replaced them all.
