Being a public BBS, it is whatever we make it. I believe some of the old characters have drifted away, either due to the changes here, or maybe they've moved on to different cars and hence different forums. It should take more than a change of software and a month of teathing troubles to kill a passion like Scoobyness. I've noticed SIDC is a fair bit quieter these days too, so it may be a sign of the times. Maybe the sun is setting on Subaru enthusiasm

Remember, only boring people get bored

I wouldn't say it's boring..not at all.
But i do think, in the past few months, with all the viruses that are on the go, that a lot of people may not be coming on through the day whilst at work.

I know a few people who used to come on regularly through the day, but works firewalls etc..are now blocking bbs sites.

Could be one of the reasons why it's quieter.

Just to give you a bit of info...

We have actually month on month always had increased traffic on SN. It is a very good point about firewalls and company policy on Internet Access, but we have not seen an effect in numbers based on that issue.

Evo6.5,
What do you mean by saying it is boring (This is a genuine question)?

I personally feel (and I have spoke to length about this with others) that for the past couple of months Scoobynet has been the best it has been for a considerable amount of time. A lot of the bad intentional crap that dogged Scoobynet for a time has been weeded out and the community spirit is very positive.

I feel that Scoobynet is a much better place at the moment then it was say 3 months ago.

Regards,
Shaun.

Can't understand that criticism. I find SN is just as interesting as ever and the new style is a positive improvement.

I think Scoobynet is now a great site, have made it my homepage again. Did tend to go off track big time sometimes. Now it seems it's a community instead of just a free for all fight and dig at each other. Some of the threads are really interesting and lots of help and advice is offered. since the change I visit every day, before maybe once twice a week. IMHO, the change has been for the better, it's such a nicer place to 'hang out' now. Well done to the ScoobyNet team.

There is no doubt that S/Net has changed. Whether it is for good or bad will depend on what you want out of it.
When I joined I wanted to read posts and learn more about the technical aspects of the car. Most of the people who contributed then do not post now. A lot of them are on 22b.com.
If you look at the traffic, then typically there will be 8no. in Drivetrain, 10no. in General Technical, 25no in Muppets and 56no. in Non Scooby Related. I think that tells you a lot.
I see nothing wrong with S/Net being run as a commercial operation but the slant has changed enormously and if S/net survives in its current format it will have a much different readership to that which it enjoyed two years ago. Personally I think that is a great shame.

things do seem to have moved away from the scooby quite a bit.

cant understand the "locked" group buy forum. sounds like an excuse to force users into paying.

I remember some people mentioning, prior to the "new" BBS (that is, prior to the version before this one) that the "bbs" part in the hostname caused some people trouble when trying to view from work, because their proxies filteredon "bbs" Just some trivia for you.

It might well be worse but thankfully it exists. I preferred the old style S/N as well but things have moved on, so should we.

It all depends on the individual users mood

Monday ..... this is boring blah blah

Friday ........ Scoobynet is the best ever and it rules

All down to mood & perceptions ..

So SN has a time of the month then?

Some of the topics are still a bit repetative and a lot of the exciting project work has wound down or moved to 22b.

I'm confused as to what people mean by the old and new SN. Are we talking about looks and function or the actual content. Or is it the new forum rules and features that are only available to Plus members?

Personally I think the new layout is a huge improvement on the old one and I'm just thankful we have Search back again. Not being able to edit post is still a little annoying.

As for the content, well that doesn't seem as exciting as it was in the past.
