Question MSI FX 5200 wont run 'Dawn' demo ?

Recently bought MSI personal cinema version of the FX 5200 - VT128.
Everyting seems to run OK but having downloaded the demo 'Dawn' I only get a 'generated errors in Fairy.exe' warning whenever I try to run it. I have re-installed drivers, tried later drivers etc but it still wont work.

Is my card OK? - It should run this!

Cheers

Dawn is suposedly designed to show off the 5200 at it's best AFAIK it should be direct x9 & I have the latest version installed...

Question

Hmmm...

http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_dawndemo_home.html

says - Dawn Demo (72 MB) — Requires a GeForce FX 5200 or better.

Should work...

I will try a fresh download...

You're not just after a quick quake3 perv of her are you?

Gotta laught when you can run the Dawn demo faster and better looking on a Radeon though. OK along with the help of an opengl wrapper anyhow

Actually you might be able to watch it on your FX 5200 card although its really only meant for > 5600/800's. It will run much slower if at all, but it is the only way I can think of.

Try here:

http://mcbridematt.dhs.org/at0mic/dawn and download the NV30 emulator.

No Jye

I was interested to see what was presumably the best demo for the card. Both Dawn and Ogre are rated as FX5200 minimum card and neither will run on my machine. I am just wanting to make sure that there is not a problem with my card. If it should run these I would like to find out why it wont.

There are loads of other demos on the site - i love the 'lightning' and 'twister' ones.

the card ran a reasonable score on the 3D Mark 2001 ~7500 IIRC

Thumbs up

Ha!

Just installed Win XP Pro as OS and 'Dawn' and 'Ogre' demos both run fine...

Mysterious - but true

So - card is a 'goodun'

I can relax now...

Cheers
