Hey all,

I'm going to be purchasing a nearly new Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C V8 white one, with no ellecy windows, smaller alloys and break disk's.. Reason being, its slightly cheaper than the full spec one, and its actually looks good in white, a little diffrent.

Was wondering, how much one could get the electric pack for, and also, is 22k a good price for one with 2000 miles.

Why would you want the extras? The point of a spec c is to be as light as possible, thats why the extras arn`t there in the first place. If you want comfort and refinement buy something else. LOL.

Price sounds good though.

 

The only extra i want is the window pack, nothing else, maybe bigger alloys but thats it. I know its a light weight addition, but for the price it beats going for the full spec one.. I dont need Air con, etcetc, but would like eleccy wondows.

I would have thought it be a version 8, ie (sti8) but its got twin scroll turbo etc, wich is v9 isnt it? Who knows, im new here. Was a evo boy for a long time.

 

As you say, if it has a twin scroll turbo, it's an STi9, but many people round here call these cars "8"'s for a variety of bogus reasons. Thus, the best thing with these STi "numbers" is simply not to use them at all for the new shape cars.

If you call it an MY03 (i.e. model year 2003) STi Spec C, everyone will know what you're talking about

As for the lack of electric windows, you could always comfort yourself in the knowledge that you have a WRC window mechanism

I thought about buying a spec C ltd a while back......lichfields red demo, that had the leccy windows and a couple of other such luxuries (lol) .....Was an absolute cracker of a car IMHO and made my MY03 STi with de-cat feel very pedestrian when I got back into it.
IF I was starting again it would be a spec C for me for sure. Would have to have the optional boot carpet included though I think. The only other bit I didnt like was the tiney sound from under the bonnet under acceleration, sound proofing not included obviously.

Electric windows are essential - how else do you open the back windows to listen to the noise on a B-road, then shut them again when you get on the motorway?

 

Lol yer, and when u go through tunnels, u need all 4 windows open to hear the lovley sounding grunt of a scooby.. Well not that the spec c has a burbble of course.. Still sounds nice tho.

Windows is not essential at all, just wanting to know how much its gonna be thats all, i dont really care tbh..

And the price? Is that good?

 

i thought the spec c had a different engine,that doesnt have the scooby burble...

The 2001 and 2002 model year Spec C's still have the "burble". The 2003 and 2004 model year cars have equal length headers and twin scroll turbos, which, as you say, remove the burble, but add a hard-edged wail that's much more like the WRC cars, and, if anything, even nicer than the old noise.

Mine is back to standard now, twin pea-shooter and all. I have to look at the rev counter to remind myself the engine is even on

the basic spec c is just that very basic it is really for a base for a rally car (alote of throw away stuff wheels brakes seats ect)

 

There are three versions of the Spec C Tal. The base 17" wheel one has a decent interior, nice wheels and brakes. The Limited has all that plus aircon and electric windows added back in.

It's only the 16" wheel version that has the throwaway seats, steel wheels and little brakes.

 

to reinforce greasemonkeys point, these parts weren't really meant to be used on the car, just to get it to where it was going to have the proper usable bits fitted.

excercise caution at this spec level- it will go like it should, but probably won't stop like you'd expect and you may fall out of the seats....

This is a 16inch version, it wont have the A-DCCD just the DCCD, your calling it an 8 also which means in JDM langauge that its a 2002 model, i know of one with 3k on the clock for 2k less (www.just-sports.org).
You wont get the twin scroll, nor the equal length headers, you will have the older engine (but still very good) and the same brakes they had on the likes of the type R classics (4pot 294mm front 2 pot rear).
Still a good car, it shouldnt have a rear spoiler and misses out on a few other bits too over the 17inch version.
