ScoobyClinic vs. TSL
I'm interested to hear different opinions of these two companies.
I've got a Forester (MY99) that I thinking about doing some gentle tweaking on. I'm not looking for all out power just can't help myself. I'm guessing a target of around 280 bhp but the aim is to increase driveability rather than jsut pub talk.
TSL suggested - Tek3 remap + panel filter + new fuel pump (approx £1,000)
Scoobyclinic suggested - decat down pipe initially and see how it goes (£300).
Any comments appreciated.

It's not a UK scooby it's an imported Forester S/TB.
My only concern with having the decat done is I don't want to screw around come MOT time. I have all the mechanical ability of something with absolutely no mechanical ability

gavnnik,
I've got a '97 s/tb, and I found the biggest problem, was the boat like handling. When I checked, the rear ARB was 14mm, and the front 19mm.
I uprated the rear to a 20mm STi, and the front to a Whiteline 22mm. It has transformed the handling, but still retains a sensible ride.
There are various "friendly" MOT stations, who will be flexible at mot time !
Mark.

i've made good friends at both Specialists -
TSL formerly
Scoobyclinic most recently
i'm a long term TSLer (one of the 1st i believe) and will continue to use them as i will Scobyclinic. most recently the clinic has been the establishment of choice due to the availability to do the work - TSL being victims or their own success can often have a bit of a lead time.
both (in my experiance) have friendly, knowledgeable staff who make you welcome be it a social visit or if you're having work done. i am also happy with the quality of work done at both establishments.
best comparision is done by yourself... as stated above, feel free to visit both, discuss the work and the costs involved and then make up your own mind. i'm sure neither would turn you away subsequently should you use the other initially.
you could do a hell of a lot worse than go to either of these two (as i unfortunately did last summer). at the end of the day its what works out best for you and or your pocket/peace of mind.

I have also been to both and have found that the major downside at TSL is their prices. At scoobyclinic, an identical job can sometimes be as much as HALF the cost of TSL.
I live very near TSL but would still rather travel to Chesterfield to visit Scoobyclinic.

just talking to a guy earlier and he mentioned that tsl is approx £50 an hour in comparison to the clinic @ £20 per hour. that speaks chapters for me, as most sensible people say money talks................................
