Never seen any times for an Impreza but if they can get anywhere near these times they are doing rather well
(taken from EVO magazine)
Audi RS4, 8 mins 10 sec
Nissan Skyline GT-R, 7 mins 59 sec
Porsche GT3, 7mins 56 sec

8:37 in a standard Impreza is ***** out all the way considering the lack of power in the uphill bits.
FYI, an Audi S3 did 8:41 in the same test.
Having seen video of an R1 fly around the Ring in 8:41 it's difficult to believe that a stock Impreza could do it in such a time.

Paul, Indeed a difficult to believe time, but HvS is an exceptional driver, and most of us won't even come near such a time, STi or not.
When you look at the corner speeds, it is for example faster than the new M5 in most corners, but it looses on the long straights and uphills, as you suggested. (M5 time was 8:28 IIRC)
The magazine was utterly amazed as well, and had nothing but praize for the car. The "reference" car they used in the test is the S3.
Fastest production car tested as of this month is the new Porsche Turbo, with an unbelievable 7'56" ... Impressive, but it does cost 4 to 5 Imprezas...
I still wonder what time he would get with an STi or a well sorted UK spec (PPP ? SO2 PP's ?)
