I've dropped a bollock here - thought I'd start the thread so as to give me a bit of ammo when the other half fainted at me announcing I'd spent 30k on a car - was expecting 1000 replies saying "yeh its worth it easily................"

the best scoob EVER to be offered to the uk market
i think it is a good car with lots of extras on it which should have been on the sti in the first place!
i wonder if subaru will limit the run to 500 or increase to 1000 like the p1 leaving lots of unsold p1's therefore reducing the resale values

Well, put it this way. It's on sale in Japan from 3,350,000 yen plus tax, which calculates at less than £17000. Plus shipping fee and import duty and VAT, SVA, registration, etc. Comes to about £25000-£26000 by the time you've finished messing about with it all. The rest is dealer's profit.
But what's it worth to you? That's the most important thing, isn't it?

So dealer makes £4000 profit.About 20%. Out of that he has to pay staff, rates, power, tax and the everday running of the business. Drops that figure down quite a bit I would imagine.

Then, of course, you're shackled to the three+ years of exorbitant dealer prices for servicing if you want that warranty.
The dealers are doing OK from every one of these they sell.

Both my previous scoobs cost me between £400-£500 for the 60,000 mile service (which is about the same as the 24 month/30,000 mile service)
Perhaps the schedule is different on the UK STI's.
If it's just the equivalent of the old six month oil change, I stand by my words.
