WR1 - worth £30k???
I have ordered one, I think it is worth it, my wife doesn't agree but is happy if I am! It doesn't bother me a bit what anyone else thinks, I am buying it for me, nobody else! It looks fantastic, it will hold it's value well. I have just sold my 01 WRX for £14000, thats 24% depreciation, which is good in the car world today.

As I posted on the other WR1 thread, IMHO it's excellent value for money.
Car + PPP (in excess of standard PPP power), Springs and wheels retail at over £29k, meaning you're paying less than a grand for the DCCD (not available on UK models) and the cosmetic stuff. That's of course in addition to the full 3year warranty.
Other than the general grouch concerning the stupid car prices in the UK, I can't understand why anyone would say it isn't reasonable value for money when compared to other UK models. We all know it's cheaper to import, but most of us chose not, so to use import prices as a basis for an anti WR1 argument unrealistic to say the least.

I've sat here for 2 days, since ordering a wr1, asking myself the same question and both myself and the wife keep coming up with the same answer.
Of course its worth it, you could spend £30k on a Vauuxhall Omega, that would be worth 20% of ts value in 12 months and drives like a piece of ****e!
Was the 22B Worth It
Was the P1 Worth It
I think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enough said.

You bunch of moaning gits
I can't even buy a standard WRX for the equivalent of £30k over here
An STI would set me back £43k so I'm sure a WR1 (if it ever appears here) will be close to £48k.
Rip-off Britain ain't such a rip off. Buy it, enjoy it, and be thankful it's so cheap!

+ the 18" Prodrive wheels +lowered suspension +PPP + manually controlled centre dif (this is the only approved Uk with this fitted) +a few other bits. Once you add up what you would spend on an STI8 and then spec it to a similar level, then I think the WR1 is pretty well priced. Hopefully residuals would be better than an STI8, so I guess it would make sense. If I ws buying another new Scoob, then I would seriously consider this.

What part of the world are you in????????????
The Falklands or Easter Island Maybee!!
er yes, but you can get a whacking discount on an STI8, so the comparison is not as strong as you make out. I got a new STI8 + ppp + 18" wheels + sills + other bits for 26.5K - a saving of 3.5K over the WR1. I doubt an extra 15bhp on a car weighing 1.4-1.5tonnes is going to make a lot of difference to real world performance (7-8 bhp/tonne), and I bet DCCD-A will be left in one position for 80% of drivers after the novelty has worn off. The std STI is quick-steering anyway in comparison to 99% of road cars. I'm sure the new rack is even better, but not the first thing you'd change on a STI8 if you wanted to spend the 3.5k saving.
Just playing devils advocate you understand.

I think I agree with what a lot of people are saying, pro's and con's...
The reason I decided to buy one....?
Exclusivity,
re-sale value(Hopefully)
Plus i'm very lazy and would rather buy a car as I want it rather than have to buy extras and mods....
I guess it just depends on what you want out of it... I bought a P1 and at no point even when it was off the road for 6 weeks after engine problems did i ever regret it... Apart from last week when I had to sell it. But even then the dealer gave me an awesome price on trade in for it...

Don't talk to me about the single European market.Just introducing a little perspective. Or in the words of Spinal Tap, too much fscking perspective
You've made the right choice! After all, you can't take it with you...
At the end of the day surely it all boils down to personal choice.
Whether the car is worth 30K or not is irrelevant as far as most people who buy one seem to be concerned. Judging by people's comments on here most are looking at a little exclusivity in a package that comes as standard, rather than add-ons. When coupled with an expected decent resale value I don’t think you can really go wrong.
There is a point where the initial price would kick you in the gut more, but at 30K I think Subaru have the price about right as well. They probably could have sold the cars for even higher values and demand would have still been there.
Yes, I do have one of these on order but these are honest comments from someone who resisted the P1 and the RB5 but just couldn’t resist the lure of the WR1…

Is it some sort of pollution tax????
