Yes we all know the bright switch is pointless.

But on Sunday morning I was driving, had my side lights on as usual, but the low sun was glaring through the window and I couldn't see what the time was... A-HA! Flick the bright switch, et voila, I could tell the time again.

Thank you Subaru - everyone can stop taking the mick now. it's WORTH having a button THAT LARGE in the centre console for that. Once in 4 years. Class!

It was 10:17, btw

It's worth having it for the laugh it gives your mates when they ask what it does!

I've always enjoyed that... "what's that do then"

"You're not gonna believe this but........."

But now I can tell all those mates I've used it. And they all seemed really pleased about it

I thought mine was broken, I thought it was supposed to brighten the whole dash and not just the clock.

yeah it's just the clock. It turns it back up to the brightness the clock was before you turned the sidelights on.

I've never had a problem reading the clock with the lights on until yesterday. Amazing stuff...!!

Get an import then you wont have to cope with this highly technical piece of equipment.

Is it a problem just to leave this turned on all the time?

No bright switch on the imports... so what do all the Japanese people do when they can't see the clock in their scoob....???

I wouldn't worry about leaving it on all the time, it just means the clock doesn't dim when you flick the lights on. Which isn't a problem when you turn the lights on at night anyway.

The bright switch is removed as part of the weight saving excersise to make them quicker than the UK models.

My answer to the "What does that switch do?" is....

It increases the brightness of the person in the passenger seat

You should get a legacy, bright switch is a nice small silver push button affair.

they dont need to see the time, with them having much faster cars they arrive 5 mins before they set off
