claibra turbo v jdm wrx
Why don't you challenge him to a game of Scalextric?
In the hands of drivers of equal competence and away from the public highway, the Impreza would be the quicker car by a margin, both in terms of acceleration away from a standstill and in performance on a track.
However, which one of you wins any "race" would have more to do with your respective abilities as drivers (and willingness to take dangerous risks on the road) than any difference in the cars.

The Calibra was the BEST car I EVER owned .... its a bit dated now, but come on - looks wise the Calibra stomps all over the Impreza!!
Speed wise the Impreza wins, but, get this - I always got about 40mpg out of the Calibra! Oh, I yearn for those kind of figures again!
Reliability was an issue - my cylinder head was porous, Vauxhall knew it was but chucked it into the car anyway!! They offered me £600 off the dealer charge of £3000 to sort it out!!
I will NEVER buy a Vauxhall again, not that they care particularly
But do not underestimate what the Calibra was in 1989 when it hit the streets - it looked a $million and cost the same as a Cavalier to maintain, what a combination! Capri for the 90's!

HATE to agree with Pete
but the Calibra Turbo was quite a car in its day. No Impreza for sure, but a dozen years ago...?
Mine would outrun my boss's Cossie Saph and thrash him on top end, and his Cossie also got stolen three times, while my Calibra was never touched (nobody knew how quick they were).
Not sure about 40mpg, but mid-30s for sure. Pete's gold wheels must have had reduced rolling resistance, or something
But today, the Impreza would pi55 it (unless it's Bob Rawle's - he had a very quick Cailbra indeed!).
Richard.

Cant believe people are even comparing the two. Its a vauxhall
, even worse than fords !!! My mate's CT was crap and as for fuel economy... 35 -40 MPG?!?, he was lucky to get 28MPG but fair enough he ragged it everywhere.
Was and is still a piece of junk.. IMHO
Mr Smash, next time your mate says anything, just laugh and shake your head at him in disbelief and rest assured that the two cars dont even deserve to mentioned in the same sentence

The Impreza is faster but I dont hold with all the Calibra bashing, it was a good car in its day. By far the most interesting Vauxhall of its era, in fact apart from the droop snoot Firenza possibly the best looking Vauxhall of all time. Not saying much I know but nevertheless a decent motor.
the calibra engine is pretty reliable apart from pourus heads and can be easily tuned to 350bhp but even think about a quick gettaway and the transmission will melt. I had a cavvy and loved it but it's no where near the scoob.

From: up a bit, left a bit, down a bit, to the right no left ahhh just there
All this vauxhall bashing on a subaru site LOL, don't foget GM part owns fujitsu Heavy industries which in turn owns Subaru, so the next time you knock a vauxhall don't forget what your sitting in
As for the original question, depends if the caliba's standard or not. If it's running a Phase II or above kit then be prepared for humble pie, Mmmm pie........ in a straight line and top end, suspension needs a bit of Koni lovin, but they can be made to handle.
