Question

Can anyone recommend a place to get scooby sparkplugs changed without being ripped off on labour charges. Also I know you need the triple platinum ones for better durability but how much are they?? Do you need 6 or is it 8 I don't remember??

Alright Maffa
Plugs are £44 for NGK R's from power engineering + p&p.
Lockyear cars in plummers plain shouldn't rip you of for labour but they would charge £60 for the plugs. Give them a call 01403 891700. If they are to expensive let me know and I might fit them for you!
Cheers Col

You are looking at about a tenner a plug like everyone else is saying. They arenet hard to change so long as you have got a palm ratchetand are willing to take the battery and water bottle out etc.

Took me about 3 quarters of an hour 1st time and i'm a hairy a*sed electrician!!

Col,

you just keep on popping up giving advice. Thanks. I've checked out Lockyear and I believe that they can now sell spark plugs for just under a tenner each but it will cost about £60.00 to change them. Is it really as hard as everyone (except Paul) says it is to change them. I can get quite hands on if need be but I just need pointing in the right direction. Also i'm planning on fitting an induction kit which would make life a lot easier if the air filter is out the way, would it not.

Thanks Darren, I would have looked a bit of a tit asking for 6/8 spark plugs.

Just finished changing those damn things!!!!

What a bitch of a job!!!

Mind you the ones that were in there had gone all black and ****ty and with the new ones, WAAHHHOOO !!! The change in performance is immence. Took me about 1 1/2 hours because I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I managed all the same.

They had the NGK's in halfords (Broadbridge Heath) at about £45.00 but I found some platinum Champion eon's for £35.00 and they are pretty much the same.

No offence, but in my experience Champion plugs are crap. Since I discovered NGKs I have never gone back to Champion on any cars I have owned. Well, I did once when one was running on three cylinders but I regretted it afterwards. NGK platinums are tops.

Erik,

the Denso plugs are available here branded as HKS Iridium - they are expensive - but seem to be good.
