If your main criteria is performance then the scooby wins, although in a straight line I'm sure the CTR isn't too far behind (no I'm not trying to start the wet and twisties thread again )

As performance cars, I expect they cost about the same to run (read a lot for the same)

I have to say, I considered CTR, but went for a second hand scooby for slightly less money. Don't regret my choice.

Love the performance, the practiciality (I have a Wagon) the sound - ohhh, the sound

If you have to ask and are listening to your brothers opinion you either have never been in a scooby or are not serious about getting either car. Both are fine cars but this is Scoobynet. What does your brother drive?

From what ive read, the Type R is good in the dry and has to be rev'd alot to get it to go the same as a std scooby.

But the scooby is better all round and kicks the CTR in the wet. But the scooby costs more to run.

And the scoob is NO beefed up mondeo!!!!!

kazlo - a Saab can be a Subaru though, and it used to be a Vauxhaul

I think the latest SAAB's are built on the Impreza Floorpan?

To the thread starter, if he needs his brothers approval then he isn't old enough to afford to run one ..... in which case I should stick to the Escort GTi
