Hi Fosters,

can't really give you the answer but the same happened to me, increased mileage after upgrading the exhaust to a decat 3-inch full system, seems too good to be true, power, music and MPG all at once

If I can resist the temptation to step on harder, that is.

By the way, with the OEM system i get a full thick blackish coat of carbon deposit over the muffler tips. With the new exhaust it's more grey than black and much thinner. Healthier looking i guess. So maybe running leaner accounts for the additional mileage?

now wait a second, you mean "consumption" had gone up or the "MPG"?

Cool

I warned you at the outset......the answer is easy - you spend more time in the lower gears makin purty music with your right foot.....

Fuel consumption will improve when cat(s) are removed as the cats take up a fair bit of the engines energy. Therefore like for like consumption will improve. My weekly motorway commute figures improved by 3 or 4 mpg

DISCLAIMER - with more power leading to more temptation of the right foot, figures can go down as well as up

Sorry guys, misleading title! my mpg never got above 24 with a cat'd system, now it's 25. Although, now getting used to the noise level, so I should imagine it'll go down again!!!
