Hi all

Wnr out with my brother on Saturday night. When we got back to his car, some a$$hole had decided to slash all four tyres on his vehicle. The vehicle got recovered back to his house.
His insurance company (Norwich Union) are saying that they will not pay out unless the tyre slasher is identified !!!! - which as we all know, is impossible.
Anyone got any ideas how to claim money back on this one ?

What size tyres are we talking?
Is it worth a claim taking excess into account?
Forget this comment if we're talking 20" rims

I would have thought that an insurance claim, in company with a crime report for criminal damage to his motor vehicle, must be honoured by the insurance company?

Just standard BMW OE rims with 215/50/16 Bridgestones. My Bro has a £100 excess on his fully comp policy. Thats price of one tyre.

BuRR - Thats what I thought aswell. But we just seem to be going around in circles with the insurance company.

Mr Gee...is it Norwich Union Direct....or via a broker???

It sounds very strange...if you want to chat it through give me a call on 07798 762285 and I'll see if I can shed any light on it for you...

All the best

Whether the insurer agrees to pay or not, do not forget that a payment over and bove your poilcy excess will be due in respect of betterment.

Yes I know that you are now saying but hang on a sec I would not need to have repleced these unless this had happened. I quite agree. but this is the way opf the world. At best, even if you have only covered 1000 miles with thes tyres expect to be paid no more than 50% of the replacement value.

With this in mind, is it now worth making a claim and jeopardising your no claims bonus.

Cheers

Geoff.

Unhappy

The reason Insurance Companies are now so quick to find any reason to not honour a claim is really quite simple. There are too many crooked claims. So, the majority of honest folks get penalised along with the crooked. IT DID NOT USED TO BE THAT WAY.

Back to this particular case. Tyres 100 quid a throw .... same as excess. That's a 300 quid claim. It's a No CLAIMS bonus remember, not a No BLAME Bonus (irrespective of who's at fault). My NCB is worth much more than 300 quid ...... is his bonus protected? If so, then just maybe worth pursuing a claim. Check all the small print .....there's lots ... Worth keeping the old vandalised tyres as the Insurance assessor may need to see them. You wont get much if they were near needing replacement!

Cool

Norwich Union are robbing Bast**ds I would never use them again after they treated me the same over the theft of my bike when I was 18.

PS this is not slanderous if the webmaster wants me to elaborate on my above statement I will be more than happy to do so.
