Question

Right, when i get my 2.5 engine finished i will then have the task of getting it mapped on the ECUTEK. The problem i am facing is that i'm already maxing out my MAF on the 2litre but Pats getting around it by slightly re-scaling my maf.

the problem is now that when i will be the running full power on the 2.5 TD05/06 i will most definately not get away with slight re-scalings.

So what are my options as in terms of getting around this problem? I know that i should be changing my ECU but i'm not paying out for more parts

So he has (taken from the USDM 2.5 thread...):
Re Ecutek, I am planning to ditch the MAF sensor once I can test my little microcontroller board can successfully decode the ECU's RPM signal. A little multiplication with the MAP voltage and out pops a linearised but usable MAF voltage.
Sounds like you will need one Scott?

Scott, how does the USDM 2.5 STi deal with it? Does it have a different MAF? Worth lokking in to it.

Conrad

PS Stop being tight and get the ECU done, make the most of all that potential POWER!

Wink

LOL

I'm down over 20grand with money spent on the car already so i'm not spending another couple on a Pectel I've already dumped £1600 worth of PPP

Its not the mafs that is the direct problem, Its the ecu that can only read 300mg of air a second!

and????

If i end up changing the ECU so that i don't need the maf i will end up wanting to twist the turbo for a better inlet route so more bloody money changing up and down pipes etc i just don't want to be tempted

Use a bigger MAF tube to mount the MAF sensor in, Callum Ferguson has this on his STi. It was so lean with it on before mapping the car would barely start. Small changes in diameter result in square changes in cross sectional area, and massive reductions in MAF voltage.

The old ECUs are a bit dumber and tolerate this sort of fiddling a little better, but there are ways around it I am sure.

300g/s - think of it more as this was 300g/s but is now 500g/s and map accordingly.
