Getting my cambelt done and thinking of changing the standard pulleys for alloy ones.It seems quite pricey,is this a worthwhile mod or just pose value?

Had mine done when I had lightened flywheel put on as well. Something like 3kg down to 0.6kg for lightened pulleys. Performance gain in that engine can spin up quicker- boost starts earlier and changes gear quicker
Also get to open bonnet and see Roger Clark motorsport pullys:P

Whats the factory weight of these then is there a major difference ?? and does it depend upon the car/engine block ??

I'm sure that these are supposed to be factory balanced ? I read on here somewhere that they are OK for competition cars but not suitable for high mileage road cars. If this is not the case then I'd be interested in a set.

...when all European car manufacturers follow Japanese habbits (pulley with dumper)?
JIM

PS: Have heard that part of the balance in the Subaru boxer engine is due to pulleys and the shape of the engine of course.

There has been much discussion of this on Nasioc, Cobb did some testing and found that there is a specific harmonic that the crank pully dampens, I know Cobb didn't used to offer lightened pulleys for this reason.

Some people with fairly big power have been running them for some time.... RCM ones include Harvey and Bob Rawle and Rich Wild (and Dave and Andy from Jap Innovations) have been running MRT/GFB...... iirc.
