Question

Anybody out there used any of this stuff in their turbo. I've done a quick search of the bbs but didn't tuen much up.

Not so long ago it seemed there wasn't a bad word said about them but know there has been some concern (the oil doesn't perform as well as it should).

Anybody with experiences or just advice let me know as i'm actually considering putting some ZX1 in at the next oil change .

Cheers,

Tone.

Tone,

I used that stuff once in my Lancia HF Turbo, it didnt cause any problems....infact as far as I remember I did think it made the car run a bit better....but then I think my car runs better when its had the full wash and wax treatment...

I used it last Oil change.

No problems, In fact I use it every change even though it good for 40K, and I use the Disel version on the Wife's ShoGun

Cool

I have used Molyslip (both for commercial and private use)

and can say i was very pleased ,especially when i had to replace a blown piston ring on the Peugeot Mi16 engine ,as the engine was dismantled there was a distinct lack of wear on the engine bearings (after 117k miles....i ask you)

Just to add my 2 pennies worth

Here in the US - none of the magazines or car shows have found any measurable advantage to Slick 50 - basically asking if solid teflon can actually get onto bearing surfaces from the liquid suspension - the rest is just 50w oil, btw. There are always a few horror stories floating around about ruined engines, but usually, those cars had three wheels in the junkyard, anyway. My advice would be to use Mobil 1 Synthetic. I use 0w30 here in SoCal, and for your cooler climate, I'm sure it'd be perfect. Good enough that it's the factory fill-up in new Porsches now.

I'm not an oil expert but in the UK, the commonly-held belief is that regular Mobil 1 (0w40) is too thin for the Subaru engine.

I use Mobil 1 Motorsport which is 15w50.

Thanks

Gavin
