Subaru is preparing to unleash the most extreme version of the Impreza ever seen on the road. According to reports from Japan, the company is preparing a limited edition road-going version of its World Rally Car and the model could be in Japanese showrooms by the end of the year. The car will be hand-built by Subaru's Isesaki studio. The car could be the first of a number of limited edition Subarus as Isesaki is planning to concentrate on low-volume production models.

The fastest Impreza ever developed is set to blast from rally stage to the road later this year, according to Subaru sources in Japan. Company bosses are talking about bringing a limited-edition production version of the Impreza World Rally Car to Japanese showrooms by December. It's known as the WRCar road-going project.

While Isesaki's work is understood to be of the highest quality, the firm has only recently switched operations from manufacturing buses to concentrate on designing special interest, low-volume production models. As strange as this might seem, Isesaki has a long association with tuned Subarus.

Most memorably, the company was responsible for the outrageous-looking red-and-black chopped-top Impreza, which was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. Lowered by 100mm, the car demonstrated the firm's skills in making complex structural modifications, and its engine tuning expertise. However, according to our insider, the WRCar project will be a more straightforward affair.

If i knew how to post pics then i would have put some up. If anyone wants to put them up then email me and i will send them to you....................................

Question

It'll have to top 320kph to be the fastest. I doubt they will produce such a car.

I'd say that is more AutoExpess artistic license.

They may well produce a WRC based car but it won't be the fastest.

Oh, not this old SIAL again.

ScoobyP1, as Paul says, the pictures are of a WRC car with all the stickers Photoshopped off (look for the bits of rollcage, Prodrive seats and TM52 SRT registration). This story is as old as the hills (well, June/July time anyway), and the fact that AE are prepared to try and pass such obvious fakes off as insider/spy shots makes the credibility of their entire story somewhat shaky.

Don't believe a word of it until you've seen some confirmation elsewhere...
