Question

I have posted this on the Interior Forum, and as this forum is seldom visited I'm additionally posting this here to draw your attention to it, any help will be very greatly appreciated....

http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?ThreadID=274765

Hi all

Am considering swapping out the stereo from my MY03 and placing a single DIN unit in the existing slot.

What to do with the remaining single DIN space?

I have considering getting a SECS Data Monitor, however I have heard on good authority that these units can be very problematic, with displays going wrong and other issues.

I would therefore like to throw this one open to the Scoobynet community to get all feedback both good and bad based on your own experiences.

Over to you!

my car was the first customer car to have this unit fitted. It hasnt had any problems at all. During that time i have had 3 software upgrades to enable amongst other things Oil temp and presure sensors to be added. So far 100% reliable.

It is a very useful adition.

Had the SECS in my 03 for 7 mths now.Apart from a couple of adjustments to the contrast, no probs at all.

IMO an excellent piece of kit.

Cool

Same here, no problems with the SECS unit in my 03 STi.

I have done the same thing as you are looking to do. Replaced the double DIN unit with a single Kenwood. I thought about placing the SECS unit underneath, but the I found that the SECS unit would be too low down for you to keep an eye on while driving, so I bought the SECS 1004 pod mount unit and fitted it where the clock is....makes it far easier to monitor and no probs with seeing the display so far.

Got a replacement single DIN dashboard accessory tray from my Subaru dealer and had that fill the gap under the Kenwood.

System works well for me.
