Police doing something about stolen cars? Whatever next!

Must be trying to track down some unpaid speeding fines to be going to such lengths!

I wonder if the keeping of a register of members cars (categorised by year or model maybe) as the RS owners club do, would be of any use?

The parts belong to a car that has been stripped and the body disposed of if I read it correctly

So the Scrots are breaking stolen cars and then selling them back to us

That's why the For Sale section is so busy

Top idea as long as the member list is not posted on the web!

The club has received a request re the Identification of Stolen Motor Vehicle

It reads

"Dear Sir

Can you or your members possibly help us to identify a suspect stolen motor vehicle, recovered from a breakers yardin Manchester?

We have recovered five doors from a Blue Impreza estate dated circa 1998, with one of your club stickers in the rear screen. Because of the circumstances within which the panels were found we suspect that the vehicle is an outstanding stolen.

Are you aware of any members vehicles having been stolen? If so could we please have details of any such vehicles / owners ? Although we will not be able to repatriate them ( because the bodyshell has been destroyed ) it may neverthe less help in our prosecution of those responsible.

If you require any further information or clarification please contact on 0161 856 6498

Kind Regards and hope to hear from you soon

Marttyn Weightman
GMP Stolen Veh Squad"

Now the club does not hold specific details on vehicles so I have suggested we post his fax on here and see if we can turn anything up

Can any body help?

Please note this is a genuine request I have already personally spoken to the GMP before posting this
