Has anyone disabled the seatbelt warning alarm on MY02 - 03 cars?

Mine is doing my head in!

Not that I don't wear my seatbelt you understand but when the car is idling after a run the noise is driving me mad!

Is it simply a case of pulling the wires to the speaker thingie and has anyone done it?

If so, location of offending item?

 

There's a plug under the seat. Just unplug it

 

Isn't that the airbag sensor or seatbelt pre-tensioner sensor?

 

Don't forget to wear a helmet when you perform this sort of work ....

Maybe fit a turbo timer so you don't have to sit there waiting for engine to cool?

 

I thought it only sounds if the car is moving???

MY02 WRX - does not make seatbelt bleeps anyways ?!

 

I had one on my last car and it defeats the purpose as you have to hang around for it to turn off so you can lock doors/arm alarm with fob.

The alarm starts if you drive off with no seatbelt, but on mine it also sounds if you come to a stop and take seat belt off.

I wonder if it'll still sound if I wait to a complete standstill before releasing the seat belt?

Either way, it still does my head in and the thought of a £30 fine is sufficient encouragement for me to clunk-click!

 

Thought turbo timers allowed you to lock up and leave the motor, then it shuts down when turbo is cool, some are even auto I think so they judge if you been driving hard or not!

Why do I not get a bleep in MY02 - not that I want it anyways, but..

 

When the engine is timing down on the timer, the remote alarm fob does not have any effect, as the car basically thinks you have pressed the button whilst driving, so it won't lock the doors and arm the alarm.

There are heaps of threads on here about it if you do a search.

What most owners do, (me included) is to lock the doors with the keys whilst the engine is timing down, and then arm the alarm from the house window once it has shut off. Not ideal.

Some Cliffords though, can have the facility built in.
