Today i had to go into a small village to get some paint as i was running low.Its hard finding anywhere to park so i really just abandoned my scoob on double yellows as I'd only be a minute or 2. So as I'm putting on my disclok a bloke who looked about 140 years old and I'm sure was in one of the lord of the rings films starts to trundle all the way around my motor muttering to himself. I got out and he immediately tapped me on the arm with his walking stick..and what came out of his toothless mouth left me grinning for the rest of the day..

"excuse me young man"
YES
"would you be kind enough to leave me that in your will"
HUH
"the car"
HUH
"it sounds luvly
HUH
"By the way , did you know Richard Burns is driving for subaru next year"
ERMM YES
"if your not going to be long I'll keep an eye on it for you"
ERM...OK THANKS

And when i got back from the paint shop...

THANKS FOR LOOKING AFTER THE CAR
"no problem sonny, I just wish they had those cars when i was younger..take care"

YEH..THANKS

Makes me smile everytime i think about it

Anyone else had anything like this happen ??

Phil

Excellent

Something to aspire to... 140 (ish) and still a petrolhead. Here's hoping!

Unhappy

Why is it when I meet OAP's I get the moaners or nit pickers?...

Had one today saying I couldn't chuck the tumble dryer into the metal bin at the local tip - he seemed to think it was plastic !!??

I wish more people in general were like the bloke madgrip met, regardless of age!

Pulled up at traffic lights, windows open on a nice summers day. There was an old chap of about 70 sitting in the car next to me on inside lane looking at my car. I nodded to him and he said:
"Bet that shifts"
DOES A BIT
"Nice car"
THANKS
"Show us what its made of when the lights change"

Most of the OAP's I've met usually grumble or have something to moan about.so the guy I met really made my day

Madgrip,
Brilliant that mate should have given the old fellow a spin, then again his ticker might have given in, Great to hear an older man take an intrest instead of moaning
Cheers
Colin

A couple of months ago I remortgaged the house, and the bloke who came over spent about an hour discussing money saving ideas, expenditure, being frugal, etc. etc.

On the way out he's looking at my Scooby and comments about their reputation. So, being a nice chappy, I ask him if he's got time for a short blast in it. Which he did...

After a minute of driving, he turned to me and said "Forget everything I've just said about saving money - just keep this, it's quality!" I think he liked it.

A few things like this have happened to me, and the wife. Once the wife was parking the Scoob up and she noticed a Smartly dressed woman in her 50's standing and staring at the car, when the missus got out the woman looked at her and said 'That sounds lovely, just lovely....'

Whilst I was in Devon for a week I went to a Takeaway and parked the Scoob on the road just infront of the takeaway. Anyway whilst I'm waiting for my order, I look out of the window and notice an Older chap looking all around my car. He then procedes to get his camera out, and take about 10 photo's, from lots of different angles..... I went out and had a chat with him, telling him 'what it is' etc. etc, it was like he'd never seen one before

During the same week I was in a carpark waiting for the wife, when 3 old guys started looking all around the car. One of them asked the usual questions, how fast etc., then I gave a few blasts of the Decat/Firestorm, which was recived with lots of oohs and aahhs, 'sounds lovely' 'just fantastic'

My bird's gran is coming to Knockhill with us for the next track day and she is approximately one trillion years old! Sanatogen is the fountain of youth I have decided!
