Does anyone know how I can change the com port that XP has assigned to my USB GPS receiver.
Its been automatically assigned to com 5 and I want it at either com 3 or com 4.
Once get this going changed then will have GPS navigation in my car (via laptop)

Go into Device Manager, from within system in control panel.
Double click the comport that you wish to change, then under the Port Settings tab, set it to whatever COM number you wish.
If my memory serves me correct I think that you'll find it has flagged the first 4 as being in use, which is why it has assigned 5, I think this is b****cks, so just ignore it and select the one you require.
