VCORE NIGHTMARE!!!! WHAT DOES IT MEAN??
#1
I keep getting a nasty hardware error every time I boot my PC. It points to the VCORE Voltage settings in bios. I have noticed that whilst all the other voltages are constant, the +5V fluctuates between 4.5V (when it displays in red and errors occur) and 4.99V. This causes my PC to freeze up and not restart for ages. Also my other hard drive (secondary master) has vanished and is not recognised by my BIOS or windows XP. I'm stumpted can anyone help. Motherboard is Asus A7A266 running 1.1Ghz AMD athalon processor.

I don't think this is a PSU issue as Vcore is mainly a function of the MoBo regulator circuit.
Hmmmmmm...
Could be the monitoring tool that you use is fairly inaccurate. High quality tools could give a much more stable (and accurate) reading when compared to tools like Asus Probe (which I use, and is fine for me).
Odds are that the board and PSU are both fine. My advice would be to reflash the BIOS with a newer version and see what happens then.
Good luck

cheers for the help dude but have already upgraded the BIOS and still have the problem. I have Asus probe and that gives readings of between 4.7V and 4.99V but shows no probs. problem only occurs in hardware monitor in bios. could this have fried my other hard drive as well?
