Has anyone tried pirelli 205/50zr16 87w pzero asimmetrico on a 98 turbo? Potenza tyres are hard to get according to local tyre dealers. I contacted pirelli who reccomended the above tyres but i have heard these tyres are not to good in the wet.

Have you tried Yokohamas? - They are a very good tyre in the wet and super sticky in the dry. Give me a bell if you want to know more on price etc. Details at www.terzo.co.uk.
Re: Pirelli - i used to run P Zero's on my 911 Carrera 2. Superb in the dry but crap in the wet - mind you, could have been the rear wheel drive car!!
Happy hunting.

I used Goodyear F1 directional eagles on a 205 GTi 1.9 with 160BHP. Unbelievable in the wet and like your superglued to the road in the dry, but an extremely soft compound and not so cheap. I'm not sure if they make that size but I do know that if money were no object my Turbo Impreza would have them!

I used to run with Bridgestone RE71. The grip deteriorated tremendously after 50% wear..does the S0-2 suffer the same fate if not I certainly would like to try it.
Am running with Michelin pilot SX which I find is a good compromise for grip in wet and dry, wear (45,000kms life span), comfort and noise levels but then again I'm no road burner.

I've got PZeros on my std '98 16" rims.
They don't feel as planted as others I've had, but they are Very predictable in all conditions and last mote than 10K (currently at 13K with another 2K to go).
So I'd get them again.

In agreement with Ian Dean, I have heard only rave reviews from people about the Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres, and will be fitting a set myself when it comes round to new rubber time. As far as prices go, I was quoted at £100 per corner with valves, balancing and fitting at the cheapest place I could find in Aberdeen, and that was for 205/55R15.
I have decided however that mail order is the way to go when it comes to buying new tyres. For example, Elite, with an advert in some of the magazines, were quoting prices of £58 inc VAT for a very similar size. I would imagine therefore that 205/50R16 prices will be very competitive also.
They have a web-site at:

Hope this hasn't confused you even more about what rubber to get?!?!

I've got Bridgestone S02's on my Alfa GTV - the fronts take a hammering (my driving probably) and I get through a set in about 8K, rears in 15K. They're excellent in the wet and dry but are quite soft. As they're paid for on maintenance contract I just go down to Kwikfit and they can usually get them in next day. The S01's the car came with were too soft and got eaten in 6K/8K !
Hopefully they'll last longer on the Scooby when it arrives...

I've got Pirelli 205 peezero asimms on 17" rims (MY97 Prodrive): very sure footed wet, dry, loose muddy lanes etc. They certainly haven't felt nervous in the wet yet.
Did not get free calendar, mind.
Be interested to see how the whole thing behaves in snowy conditions. Any tips chaps? (Can you get chains for ultra low rubberwear?)
