Plod has got a nice dark blue Volvo V70 estate totally unmarked!
Plods sense of humour Y TRY!! Very Good

Just bought a Road Angel what a license saver blatted onto the A127 and pulled out into the outside lane and the R-A starts going beserk, behind me is the Volvo with a nice bright jacketed policeman at the wheel. Fortunately not even a tug. Thank you R-A

[Note: We don't allow the publication of Registration plates so it's been removed]

How did the R-A detect that? I'll be interested in one if thats the case. I can cope with gatso's etc but its the vans and unmarked b'stards that worry me.

Havnt a clue but the alarm went off I slowed down and Plod sat behind before getting bored and sailed on by.

I've never been bothered by the Gatsos either but mobile, radar and lasers are a b!tch to spot sometimes and this time I got lucky

Cornwall has a few V70 T-5's too

Was followed by one for a few miles and didnt even realise it was a copper. I was cursing cos he was tailgating me, so thought as soon as i get a straight im leaving him. Got to the straight, booted it and saw two lights flashing behind the grill as he pulled over my bro-in-law. How lucky was i

Essex Police have quite a few unmarked cars and what they do is send them round the county on tour. After two weeks or a month say, they transfer them to another station so you're not familiar with what cars they're using. That way they think they're one step ahead of us.

I know they have a Midnight Blue and a Silver 5 series BMW both 3.0l diesals which are quite rapid

Probably picked up a laser beam signal on the laser alert bit. AFAIK it has a front & rear facing sensor (the front & back look the same & it doesn't say which way to point it in the instructions ) but it obviously depends where you've got it mounted on the windscreen as to whether it can see anything...

I mounted it roughly just above the rear wrx spoiler on the front windscreen. Its a good piece of kit especially if you have to travel around

The reason that unmarked police cars have their regs removed on SN is not because we want people to get a speeding ticket but because there is the likely possibility that these cars are used in unmarked survelience operations & not solely on traffic duty. Should an operation be compromised through the publication of these regs on SN, then we are in the doo-doo.

So, safe not sorry is the order of the day.

Thanks

I was lucky the other day,

They set up a mobile laser trap around an easy bend just as the road drops steeply down hill. Was driving easy, picked up a few mph due to the slope of the road when I saw the van, glanced at the speedo and bugger! faster than I though

Stopped and had a chat, I was doing 38 which was enough to get done, but the printer had just ran out of paper!, so no ticket

Glad not to get a ticket, but the trap was outside a school, so I should have been more carefull with my speed, certainly think about it whenever I pass, so job done.

Makes me think that for a minor speed infringment, you should get one chance before a fine and points are dished out.

i think they should pull you if they use a moblie one. i got 2 in day and did not i had been done until the nips arrived. if i had got a pull i might of been a bit more careful with my speed.

Thats very true, they should at least have an electronic sign that lets you know !, thats why I stopped to find out. Nothing worse than waiting for the envelope to drop through the door.

I mean, if they caught you for anything else, you would get a chance to reform before you did it again

Puff ... so you seriously think that Essex Police would use an unmarked performance vehicle for something that didn't generate revenue!!! lol think again

I've heard that the officer who nets the smallest amount of fines has to buy donuts, pizzas, curries and high fat yog drinks for everyone in the office (and that's just for lunch)

I wouldn't be soooo worried about the plates on unmarked police cars. I know for sure they usually have a 'selection' of registrations that they use for these cars. Makes it very intresting when these cars themselves get PNC'ed

Still - where would we be without good old safe but sure Scoobynet

Hmmm...these ordinary looking cars are going to stick out like the proverbial sore thumb in Essex.

Essex police should get wise to latest fashions and put their traffic cops in Audi TTs; be more likely to blend in when undercover and annoying/baiting motorists to donate some money to the government speeding coffers.

Wink

I've never seen the Skoda. It must be a donation!!
True the Police do have a list of Blocked Plates but these are generally only for Special Branch and other like minded depts not your general CID or Traffic cars.

If I ever pass an accident or a pulled motor I always make note of the car and number coz you never know when it might be your turn
