Tried to induce fuel surge today
Industrial estate, empty (ish), big square of concrete airfield esque. Fuel light about to come on. I spent a good 10 minutes doing circles left and right and getting tighter and tighter until the front or rear broke away.
I gotta say, all that happened to me is that i learnt a little more about the vehicle characteristics on the limit. Fuel surge, dunno, didn't happen to me. I gave up after the fuel light had been on for a few minutes cos i'd have looked silly sat there surrounded by tyre circles and a dead car

I agree , thats the last thing you want to do , by doing this it will run lean before running out , thats how you get detonation , I melted the pistons on my Sierra Cosworth rally car by running lean once , the live wire came off the fuel pump and the split second it took to run out was enough to do damage , so be carefull .
I've never tried to actuall cause it
Were doing hard right handers then flooring it in full boost in a straight line? That's when I tend to get it, hardly ever during a corner but just after when I've got my foot to the boards.

When my Fuel light comes on I reckon I have about 20ish+ 'normal' diving miles left, so i wouldn't imagine you would be able to induce fuel surge, as you should still have 7-10ish quids worth still in the tank.
This is in my opinion, hell I don't know how much a tank holds!
I reckon for my car (my98UK) this is about right though as I took delivery of my car during the petrol strike a couple of years ago. The garage said they had 'found' half a tanks worth of fuel for me, although the fuel light WAS on. Anywayz I drove the car home, about 20 miles, and it started spluttering near the end. 5 mins sitting on the drive (listening to the burble
) it died. A little lucky wouldn't you say
Incase I don't get flamed or am just in the mood for a bit more
, I do reckon fuel surge exists. Don't ask me why...

Chances are it would run low on fuel and drag up all the crap from the bottom of the tank and **** everything up!!!
Fuel leaves the fuel tank from the bottom of the tank

I think overboost is the most likely cause of that feeling of no fuel for a split second. Caused by hitting the loud pedal at high(ish) revs. Contaminated solenoid is the most likely reason, sometimes caused by too much oil added on a service.
Drain some oil and clean the solenoid.

Forgot it was an emmotive subject

Point taken Saxo

Must remember never to run out of "dirty" fuel on a bend because the car will have been detting hahahahahahaha

Best I get my lawn mower checked out eh? Ran that dry the other day, tut tut
