I have an MY98 with full decat, bleed valve at 1.1bar estable, blow off forge and Apexi S-AFC

I Suppose I'm probably pushing about 240bhp with these mods

Would these further mods see me to 280-300bhp:

Inyectors?
Fuel pump and regulator?
Turbo VF23, VF24, TD05?

Will these mods give me the 280- 300bhp

Thanks.

A VF35 is your least laggy way to 300 BHP, VF24/28/29 are good alternatives, as is a front entry TD05. Would not bother with a fuel pump or injectors for this level personally unless there is an issue you discover (obviously you will be monitoring everything carefully and knowledgably whilst doing it). You will need careful tuning of your S-AFC with knock monitoring. You may need to compromise fuelling and timing control because they cannot be independently adjusted, but with some creativity you should get there. Adjusting fuel pressure is one method.

Rather than use a bleed valve which usually is set to modify the effect of the wastegate duty cycle across the range, suggest a manual boost controller for best low down spool up. Control the part throttle by altering the bleed hole, control the top end by adjusting the preload on the actuator.

For 300 BHP you will be wanting about 1 bar at 6000 RPM as a guide. Suggest tune to a narrowband lambda voltage of about 890mV if keeping the top mount, obviously detonation will limit you. Consider water injection as a means of propping up the timing difficulties you may have in tuning it - hot climate, base map designed for small turbo, yet you want to lean it out, which means more ignition timing on the S-AFC.

If you are up for it think about getting a Link ECU or similar and sell the S-AFC. Then you can have independent timing and fuelling control and there are a lot of people that can advise you in detail.

The standard TD04 will not do 280 BHP on every dyno on any day.

TD04 will push around 280 hp max any time, and that is the APS stage 1 kit and dont think anyone can dispute that.
Since its hot there I ll suggest fmi,any VF,and some sort of ECU to control everything(piggy back chip would do)
As for the 380cc injectors and fuel pump ll fine for that power level(300hp).

Cheers

I am disputing it... not on UK dynos "any time". On one of our higher reading dynos (Power Engineering) there are only a few listed over at 280 BHP or above, and that dyno lists standard cars well above standard power. On our lowest reading dynos (Powerstation and Star) I don't think many/any have got anywhere near 280 BHP to my knowledge. Depends on how you measure it. Do you want a fast/real 280 BHP or a pub/bull**** 280 BHP?

If you want an easy 280 to 300 IMHO any dyno/any time/no excuses, you have to junk the TD04.

Interesting??
TD04 max 280bhp on the flywheel.
2001 WRX club dyno day.
Location:APS headquartes Bayside Vic.
Dyno used yno Dynamics 4wd
Number of WRXs on the dyno:32
Power measured:bhp at the flywheel
The first 3 cars were stock no mods and measured from 202 bhp to 209hp at the flywheel,a stock STi 280hp? and that is pretty spot on what Subaru claims(155 or 160kw with 206kw for STi).
A number of other cars with slight mods(full 3",fmi or bigger tmi,16psi,chip) measured from 250 to 280hp with the TD04.
APS have been installing-selling stage 1 kits matching STi(206kw) power on a wrx(pre02) for so many years now with great success and not only in Australia.

In saying all that looking here on Dyno results there are a number of my97,98,98,00 with TD04 pushing very close to 280hp from the TD04?
PS.hp on previous post was run with 98Ron fuel(including mine back then at 273hp).

Average MY99 at Power Engineering made 236 BHP when I last tallied them up from the dyno site. So it makes the 270-280 BHP cluster of results on TD04s less believable.

If APS dyno has standard cars below standard power and still gets 280 BHP on the modified one then clearly they are a lot better at tuning them, but given that people are tuning them to similar boost and mapping the ignition with sensible reserves and the fuelling sensibly it seems odd to me.

People are routinely getting 280 + (at PE at least) on MY01 onwards but the TD04 on that is slightly larger I believe - certainly holds much better top end boost.

On standard top mounts at our local rolling road, people are struggling for 300 BHP on VF23 and VF28 turbos believe it or not.

Seem to remember someone I know round Kent way getting around 310bhp at PE on a MY02 with the TD04 (custom map, APS top mount plus full decat). That would probably give ~280 almost anywhere? Admittedly that's the new age TD04.

Whilst I believe APS make very well conceived and good quality stuff (got an APS exhaust on my car, very happy with it), it does seem IMHO on occassions some of their power claims are towards the optimistic end of the spectrum.

Why the big deal on power figures???, great talking point but get the cars out on the track or strip and get them pitted against each other(0-60, 0-100 1/4 mile etc) Thats what matters, not numbers on a graph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree ??
APS has the fastest cars on the track(light and heavy modded)
Pre01 with R/T kit (240kw at the flywheel) does 1/4 12.4 second and that is written on all mags???
My03 with APS R/T kit(SR50) did 12.3 seconds for 1/4.
APS,MRT,AVO,and Rigoli have the best names in the WRX modified world and not only in OZ. WRXs are tuned for reliability first and then power(reputation is a big deal??).
Their work and advice is besed on experience .Ive delt with them and Motec(Melbourne) and their service (I believe) is second to none.

Any of those will fit the up/downpipe without modification.
