I guess this may get moved, and I guess this is typical of Scoobys, but my drivers and passengers window glass is scratched to hell! probably because of grit on the rubbers.
Is the any way of grinding this out??? Any experiences??

Yes, it's common - it's the runners. You'll normally find two vertical (ish) lines on each window from where it's scrached.

Design fault IMHO.

Try jeweller's rouge to polish it out, but be prepared for a long job

 

There is a recent thread which suggested scratched glass is a common fault and blames a worn bush. I think the thread was named "Scooby Windows"

Also that stain you get on the side windows where the rubber touches the glass when the door is closed.

Can you get rid of that, anyone?
Or is it just me??

 

My MY02 is starting to do the same and its only just a year old so couldn't really be blamed on anything being worn.

IMO Design faults should be subject to a recall where the manufacturer puts steps in place to stop it happening (softer rubber?).

this may sound daft, have you tried Brasso ? Great on glass and headlights etc.

 

I reported scratching of the window glass to a dealer the other day. Was told that it was 'grit' on the window steadying thingies (pads/bushes/whatever). They cleaned up the old ones and are ordering new thingies.

They haven't got back to me yet so my curiosity may have got the better of me and I'll have a look before the w/e. I need to sort out some speakers too, so that's a good enough excuse to strip at least one of the door panels down.

A common reason for window mech. problems these days is people grabbing the glass and slamming the doors shut, rather than pushing the doors.

Both front windows and runners recently replaced under warranty. Known fault apparently.

 

jeweller's rouge will help lighten the scratch thats all, but won't get rid of it im afraid.

Ur stuck m8 unless u change the glass altogether.

 

Got both windows and bushes (which caused the problem) done on P1 under warranty. No problem.

navigator- i just recently took my front door panel off [the window was not closing proper-the bolts that hold the motor had cme loose] yes its easy
1/there are 2 screws to take off 1 with a blanking square plate 1 behind the inside door pul [just pull and slide to the right]
2/then you have to pull the door panel off its poppers.
just do it slowly and dont force anything too much-sorted

 

My Type R is doing the same and I have been told about the Steadying pads aswell. Apparently low cost to replace if you do it yourself. Glass is a complete mess and wondering if anyone has any side glass for a two door for sale without the scratches or where I can get some from. the only ones I can find are for P1s which have a blue tint which is not correct for a jap import.
