Question

Calling all fathers and mothers

With the impending new arrival in the primate house I need to get a car seat, can anyone recomend any seats, possibly one that is a good fit on the scoob, i'm looking for birth to 4 years and have seen plenty and have read plenty and I would like to hear what the scoob community has to say.

Thanks

Dave

The Isofix ones are brilliant and if you have a 03 model you can use a top tether too, currenlt on offer at Halfords for £129.

They are group 1 so are for 9 months to 4 years, there are not many group 0+ , 1 group car seats most people use a a group 0+ carrier first, as the baby is normally so small compared to a car seat for 0 to 4 years.

on our 3rd kid and now use the mammas and pappas system where the seat clicks in and out of the seat base and plugs into the push chair......only way to go.

We went for the Britax First Class seat. Suitable from 0 to 4 years. Well made. Definately recommend it.

It's not isofix, but the harness points are very well located. Once it's fitted in to my car there isn't any give at all.

What ever you get make sure that it is fitted properly.

We had a deveil of a job finding a seat that fitted the Legacy, we ended up with a Britax Club Class. But this does not fit the STi8, so we bought the Britax ISO fit, exactly the same as the Subaru seat without the Subaru name on the pads and £30.00 cheaper.

What you need to look out for is buckle crush. If the person selling the seat doesn't know what it is then buy from someone else.

Apparently over 75% of car seats are incorrectly fitted and it is more dangerous to have a child in an incorrectly fitted car seat than for them to not be in a car seat.

We bought the Greco Metro Sport travel system for the scooby. In the manual it says it fits the scooby no problem. We were driving about and the wee mans head kept falling forward. We went back to the shop and they cheked it out and said it didn't fit properly. We then had major problems getting the money back and had to write to head office.
The best advice I can give is get it checked out by the shop when you pick it up.

We bought the graco mirage travel system and all I can say is I would not buy a travel system. The seat is big and bulky and only fits if you pull the full extent of the belt out first, because of this we have hardly ever whipped it out to put on the pusher, the whole point of a travel system! Dedicated car seats can go upto alot older age as well, in the other car we use a seat we were given and a tidy little £30 pusher from toys r us, suffice to say the travel system will shortly be for sale and we will just buy another seat and pusher.
