Yeah yeah yeah - you've tried to flog 'em to me before... I've bought a Diamond M6 12... Still tempted by UFB, but the HD62s are working pretty well with sub bass down to about 80Hz.

Remember that 7" VGA wide touchscreen LCD tft display that I mentioned as a group buy?
Well, I finally wrote a review...

(excuse the formatting at the moment - it's all a bit transient!)
If there is interest in a groupbuy, let's look at getting it moving
Cheers,
Nick.

Nice review mate - very fair comments all - particularly about that HD connector!!!!
Mine's now in the dash of the Bora, using MediaEngine to play umpteen mp3's. It's blummin marvellous, although the touchscreen doesn't always start. Seems to be when the car's been left overnight, so I'm guessing it's battery-voltage related. But then, I am going to be putting a separate battery in for the PC and screen, so the problem should go away
By the way, how did you force the graphics card to use specific screen resolutions? That's a new one on me!
Thanks yet again for getting the other development unit for me
Richard

So you're running it directly off the car power supply? Cool
The stuff to change resolution is either the Matrox display drivers, or alternatively Powerstrip.
The real bugger is that powerstrip doesn't support the via chipset, so you need an extra graphics card. The 450 works well

Ah, gotcha. In which case, I'll be settling for the standard 800*600 which still looks fablious
Power supply is a second 12V battery and 0.5F cap, through a thumping great charging diode. So, that battery/cap powers the stereo and PC. Running a 1GHz mini-ITX, via a Morex 12V PSU (currently sat on the passenger seat!) and it works a treat. Doesn't like to be powered up before the engine's running, but otherwise it's very reliable.
Going to be building a false floor for the passenger's footwell. That way, I can put the two Focal 5WS subs in the kickwell, the PC by the seat, and only take up about 2" of floor!!!!!
PS Small Focal subs in the front of the car RULE
PPS Am using Cerwin Vega 6.5" drivers in the doors, 1" tweeters on the dash, the two 5" subs in the kickwell and no other speakers. You wouldn't believe the sound - it's like a set of studio monitors

I see these are currently $429 one off. If one takes the plunge and purchases a unit I assume Her Governments Custom & Excise people will want their share, do we know how much that will be?

You can try.
The problem is that AIUI it's a federal offense to misrepresent customs charges, or something like that... But mine came through with no customs labels at all.
