For those who saw Top Gear on Sunday, they had an article on Crash Test marks where 5* was tops.

Not sure what standards were used but does anyone know what results the new MY03 was awarded and as an owner of an STi8 PPP starting to wonder.....no jokes about slow down or don't crash please :-)

The test standard is set by Euro NCAP but there is no mention of the Scoob in the results on their website.....

No doubt about it - the MY02/03 Imprezas are very safe. Always thought the classics were OK, but the new bodyshell is 250% stronger.

A couple of observations.

The subaru NCAP results come from the US NCAP programme. I don't think that the European NCAP programme has tested a Subaru.

There is a difference between the NCAP crash tests and the LEGAL crash tests. The legal tests are pass/fail only, the NCAP tests produce the star rating and are intended for consumer information. The NCAP tests are typically based on the legal tests, but are tougher as there is a higher impact velocity. For example: the EU legal fromtal impact test is at 56 km/h, the EuroNCAP test is at 64 km/h.

The latest cars are very strong as shown in the US tests, however this made them very heavy compared to the older cars such as the P1

its a small trade of IMO
