driving home last night quite late (12:30), about 2 blocks away from my house. turned into the road to find an escort turbo stopped in the middle of the road and another car parked wierd on the pavement. in all honesty i thought they must have had a little crash, however, i didn't see any evidence of this, i.e broken glass, etc. anyway, there were about 4 blokes in total, and 1 of them was trying to flag me down - near enough stood in the middle of the road to stop me.

what did i do? put my foot down and drove by. it all looked a bit dodgy to me, but what would u do??. if i was in my old car, i maight have stopped (definately slowed down), but no way in my scoob. am i toooooo paranoid

Keep on your toes, that sounded like an ambush to me!

My brother was crashed into at the lights, only a nudge no damage, but when he got out to see the other driver, a lad got out the passengerside of the car and attempted to knick his car(subaru WRX).

He is a postal worker and he was returning home after a night shift, early in the morning, no one about.

Luckily he is able to look after himself, so the lad attemping to get into his car was "alarmed, then immobilized".

Keep on your toes...........

You did the right thing mate.
I know its not very charitable, but with all the crap that is going on these days you don't really have much choice.
You have to look after No 1

fitzscoob

i always use that route as the other way to my house is bombarded with speed humps and thinking about it, yes, coincidently it seems to be around the same time

but do u really think that they would just sit there and wait? i mean, if i decided to stay at my g/f that night, you think they would just come back another night?

Paranoia is the safe option.

I would have done the same, and probably driven home via the police station.

That definately seemed dodgey but you can't take anything at face value now

Local paper reported a 75 year old lady went to help a man tending a girl she thought was having an epileptic fit in the shopping centre. She bent over to assist him and was knocked to the ground, her handbag was snatched and the couple ran off.

A couple of years ago driving through London I had some guys nudge me a couple of times at the lights. I guess they were hoping I would get out and they would run off with the car. (there were 4 of them and yes they did look a bit dodgy!) I decided a couple of scratches on the rear bumper was a small price to pay. (No one ever saw the back of it for long) for keeping hold of my pride & joy. Lights changed and I launched - left them for dead
Does shake you up a bit.

P1-day, if its a regular route they may have noticed you before mate and planned it, this is edging a little more on the paranoia side mind you but you cant be to sure any more.

on the other hand it could have been completely innocent.

anyway, best of luck

Last company I worked for had 2 cars hi-jacked...

1) Guy just come out the car-wash, someone asked him for directions in an A-Z, someone else jumped into E-Class Merc & went...

2) Guy got knocked @ a r/bout, jumped out, saw someone getting in, had a scuffle & a knife pulled on him & off went a Chrysler Grand Voyager...

Neither had trackers & were never seen again

Next 3 stolen vehicles did & were all recovered

Is it really worth owning a Subaru if you have to change your routes, drive around paranoid and always be aware that someone may break into your house and hurt you and your family to get the keys to your car?

After all it's only a ******* car.

yo badger,

i understand what u r saying, but in my opinion, im not gonna stop buying the things that i want, just cos of these people.

u r right it is a pain in the @rse having to b 100% alert all the time and yes, last night i slept literally in the porch of my house with a 'tool' and my bro was also on vigalante mode. if they came back, they would have got it, no messing around

In this day and age its all too easy for some lowlife to pull a knife and you'll never see your kids grow up.

Its what we pay our insurance for, and if they are willing to break into my place while they knew I was there, they can have mine any day.

(Besides, if you were to fight back and you hurt one of them, you would only end up getting sued, its the way the 'justice' system in this country 'works'....)

P1-day, i think u did right, after all if they had broken down innocently there was enough of them to sort something out i.e get a recovery/tow as they must have mobiles etc... its not as if it was a helpless 90 year old and u drove past without taking much notice....

Raf.

if you shoot someone in the leg you will be in serious trouble !

Probably the only way you could get away with it would be if you were shot at first, thus proving reasonable force.

The chances are that you might have difficulty proving you were 'up late cleanin your guns when they came through the door' to justify 'safe keeping' of weapons etc and lose you licence on that score. Police dont like it when weapons are involved.

Besides, you would definately be sued for that as seen in the papers recently ! What a joke!
