Well not quite... Yet travelling down the M5 Saturday morning around 8ish my girlfriend who was driving lost control of the Scoob at just over 100mph in the fast lane!!!!

She adjusted the steering wheel a little too much taking a slight turn in the motorway when the car was vearing towards the middle lane where a van was...

What happened next beggers belief... Turning the steering wheel too much and back again upset the balance of the whole car and sent it spinning straight across into the middle lane with us now facing backwards and me looking at the barrier waiting for it too smash hard beside my head.... Anyway I then grabbed the steering wheel from the passenger seat and held it tight which straightened the car up and I kept shouting at my girlfriend to brake, brake, brake!!!!!!!!! However the hell we managed it... We ended up on the hard shoulder with one back wheel mounted on the curb and no damage to the car whatsoever...!!!!! Apart from a lot less tyre thread as there was soooo much smoke and tyre thread left on the road from where it happened.... A big thanks to the guy who stopped to check if we were okay and he looked more shocked than me seeing what had just happened..

My girlfriend was in a lot of shock after it happened and actually felt physically sick also and was actually afraid to be in the car as an actual passenger..

What could have happened does not bare thinking about, but I know someone was watching down on us that day... So thought I would share my experience with everyone!!!!

We even brought a couple of lottery tickets that night... But no luck

Ant

You have to be a REALLY **** driver to do that.

Dont let her drive the ****ing thing again. Its things like that where people dont learn to handle the car properly that kill other people

How totally irresponsible - letting an eight year take the wheel. Suggest you go to the zoo, McD's or dodgems to amuse / impress her next time.

Eh? Sorry if I'm missing the funny side of this but in what way exactly is your girlfriend the "real Stig"?

The Stig(s) are skilled drivers who don't "lose control" of their car without good reason, and importantly, test their skills on an airfield, not the public highway.

Glad to hear you both survived, and also that you didn't maim or kill any innocent road users in the course of your little mishap. If you had, you'd have created just the sort of "Speeding maniac kills 10" type publicity that would have done the rest of us no good at all.

LOL :rolleys:

I must admit I can't even begin to think how wrong she must have got it to into a spin at 100mph on a motorway!? The corners just aren't severe enought unless you are going way faster!!

At least you got away with it though

Glad to see you're both alright - guess the corners concerned are those southbound between Droitwich and Worcester?

Truth of the matter is that I won't let the g/f drive above 80 - she doesn't have the "skill?"/control to drive correctly at that speed. i.e. tends to use over-inflated movements rather than adjustments etc. as well as reacting to situations (even corners) rather than anticipating them.

All takes practice I suppose...

PS fortunately she doesn't read Scoobynet
