today i've played with my Greddy boost controller. On my low boost i drove 0.7 kg/cm2. Then on high boost made it 0.95 kg/cm2 - but felt no differance. Suppose 0.7 to 0.95 should make some Only it feels like power goes somwhere out. What could be the reason? Would suspect BOV but there is no whistling noise.
Could be a/f mixture isnt right?
What would you suggest?

You should feel the difference, that's an increase from about 10psig to 13.5psig. What MY is the scoob? Also how have connected the boost controller pneumatically (Have you by-passed the existing solenoid but left it connected) Also is the ECU standard?
Need more info

Cheers

Is the std solenoid still plugged in (electrically)?
I ahve just fitted a Boost controller to MY96 and mine works correctly but I have a remapped ecu(raising fuel cut etc)

The Jap spec 1995 WRX runs about 12.7psig(0.9kg/cm2)standard. Have you just fitted the boost controller? Are there any other modifications to the car appart from the BOV and the boost controller? When in high boost does the car begin to accelerate quickly then back off suddenly? Was the car standard when you bought it? What fuel are you using? As far as the AFC is concerned, you are not running much more boost than standard so i don't think this will be of any significance.

I fitted boost controller about week ago and only started to work with it. My BOV is standart and only mod i have at the moment is mid pipe and back box HKS. When i bought the car it was absolutely std. After i started experimenting - fitted equal lengh exhaust headers and induction kit - but turned it back to standart as i deem this are useless. Im using 95RON and STP octane booster.

This is how car drives:
going on low boost 0.7 kg/cm2 car is very lively.

When i switch to high boost it feels like after 0.7-0.75 upto 0.9 kg car gains nothing for that extra boost. It doesnt feel like fuel cut more like while boost rises (with same intensity as before 0.7 kg !!??) car keeps same HP/Torque.
My spark plugs are recently changed. Air filter is brand new.

I wonder if MAF would got broken while induction kit was used?

Is the car as lively now as it was before you fitted the Boost controller?

it is. On low boost at 3000 it hits 0.7 and is very responsive and quick. Only if i try to raise the pressure there is no gain
I need my horses!

Did you have any means of measuring the boost before you fitted the boost controller?
Yours is a Jap Spec WRX so it should run 12.7psig standard whereas at the moment it is only running 10psig.

i think later this day ill connect it to std solenoid for checking.
Yet another suggestion - if std solenoid is electrically connected, but hoses are disconnected may it somehow confuse ECU?

Hey Delboy2! Was busy on job - bloody work.
This evening (now its night here in russia) had to fill up the gas. As well decided to change octane booster. Stopped for a HighGear stuff - dunno if you know it in england it sais its USA made - and this has cured my problem. Now car revs sweet, horses are plenty! Which means.....sorry STP - you guys making crap.

Thanks for cooperation Delboy2!

PS. High boost, low response - doesnts it mean lean AF mix or even detting engine which i had???!!! Or am i paranoid?

I should think that your car was DETting big time as your car is setup to run 100ron fuel(Jap Spec). The fuel you are using along with the octane booster is possibly raising the octane to around the 97ish mark which will still give detonation and reduce the life of the engine. I would say if you haven't already got one is to get a Knocklink monitor to see if it is DETting. There is something else you could do, the ecu you have fitted is similar to mine (96uk) so therefore if you take it out and take the cover off you should see a spare 28pin chip holder like the one shown on this site http://www.scoobyecu.co.uk . If it is like the one on this site you could get an enhanced chip to fit your MY95 with a better fuel+ignition map to suit the fuel you have in your country(similar to uk fuel) thus reducing the amount of DET. I have one in MY96 but has had 3 remaps to suit the boost I want to run. The chip is only £65 UK pounds.

Cheers, hope this helps
