SUL - it's 98RON as standard over there, plus NF race octane booster in my case.

be aware that one called super is only 95ron? says it on the label, you need to go for the other one, which is 98ron. Cant remember the name, no doubt someone else will

But, on all petrol stations I went to in france, they all had either 95 or 98ron labelled so wasn't hard.

sans plomb means without lead, they are all called that.

I havnt seen a pump in France/Belgium/Germany etc that doesnt have the octane rating clearly marked, its easy to see what you need.

Main tip is look for the type of fuel pump, some are credit card pay at the pump only, so dont keep making the mistake of pulling up to the wrong group of pumps, you will soon suss out which is which.

Absolutely!... This is the biggest problem I've had driving in France. A lot of them (ie most) shut late at night (no good when flying in on an evening flight and picking up a rental car) and the card-only ones usually want a PIN or don't accept VISA/MC. I once spent a good 15 mins at one station trying every credit/debit card I had - plus all of my girlfriends, before giving up and driving 25 miles (on vapour!) back where I'd come from to find one manned by humans(!) Just don't let your car go below 1/4 tank - if you see an open station, FILL UP!

Wink

If you're going to France in a tank, my advice would be to fill it up with depleted uranium tipped shells...

OK, Ratman, back to the funny farm...

All the garages out there have Sans Plumb 98 its the french equivalent to Optimax, I used tons of the stuff out there last year and its excellent, especially with a shot of NF too
