Just had 60k Service and MOT done on the MY99 (£429 if your interested).

When it went in I mentioned the scratch on the drivers window and the service guy said it was a known problem and he thought that there would be no problem in getting it done under my extended warranty.

IM say that this is not covered by the 'Proven Warranty'

Anyone know any different ?

I've had all four of my windows replaced on extended warranty - keep on battling. It is a known fault - if other peoples cars are covered then yours should be! The bushes wear down in the door which mean the glass gets scratched by a clip or something. The replacement thicker bushes are about £12, and as the original poor design was at fault for scratching your windows, then they should be covered as well

Jon.

Couldn't get mine done under proven warrenty either.

Unlike the original warrenty the proven warrenty does not cover for anything other than major breakage type stuff.

Trim etc is specificatlly excluded for example so I also couldn't get the broken drivers door trim panel replaced - but fortunately I maged to fix it myself with some araldite and some aluminium angle.

Thumbs down

had 2 fronts and guides all round replaced under extended warranty/proven warranty (i bought the car 2nd hand), decision the next day.

my money is that your dealer hasnt actually submitted the claim - contact subaru warranty direct on 0208 6039000 and they will tell you it is covered, v helpful bunch, especially amanda.

gilesgate ltd in hexham sorted mine without any problems...

Thanks for the feedback folks.

We seem to be moving into a extended vs proven situation.

I have spoke to Amanda (thanks Rift) she was very helpful, and a guy called Nick who explained that the extended warranty is as it says an extention of the manufacturers warranty aand the proven one only cover mechanical breakdown/failure, he pointed out that glass is specifically not included but he did say that he would sort out getting the guides replaced.

So I going to kick some salesmans *** tomorrow!

ian - hmmm.

tho i bought my car from a dealer and should have got the proven warranty, it took me 4 months of chasing the dealer and getting nowhere (c d bramall !!!!) before i tracked down amanda - she arranged for extended warranty cover for me with a bit extra as an apology for the incompetence of the dealer.

i was under the impression that the proven/extended warranty were one in the same. looks like i scored there then.

btw, gilesgate told me that the window glass alone was 180 quid per window, before guides and labour for all 4. reckon my claim must have been around 700 quid....

Rift,

Was the car over 3yrs old when u got it?

At the mo the words miss sold keep going through my head, I neeed to speak to the salesman in question tomorrow...... In the meantime I have 24 hrs to stew!

The main reason for going for a scooby from a dealership was the very good warranty scheme.

ian, car was bought april 02, registered in july 99 so was less than 3 years old with 55k on. like u, the reason i went to a dealer was the warranty.

car is spot on, just chose an incompetant dealer unfortunately. windows were a minor niggle and wouldnt have bothered if i didnt have the warranty cover. have had a snapped alarm bracket repaired under this warranty too.

amanda kindly gave me extended warranty from when the manufacturers warranty expired (july 02) and i had the windows done a few weeks back under the extended warranty period...
