Ricky Wheeler’s Grp 4 mk2 escort was stolen from outside the Pontefract travel lodge between 2 & 4 am this morning the details of the car and trailer are below…….can you help.

Grp 4 mk2 escort plain white in colour. Reg: kds 286N, the car is of full tarmac spec and has some unusual modifications to the bulkhead & watch linkage towers. When stolen it had white front wheels and black rear wheels. All individual serial numbers are known and will be given on enquiry.

The trailer was a bateson 4 wheel trailer 2616 model, tilt bed the serial number is also known and will be given on enquiry.

With 14 years of heart and soul having gone into the car, there is a reward being offered for its return, or for information leading to the recovery of the car.

Just spoken to Mark Wheeler, CCTV shows a Red Landrover Freelander towing it out the carpark. C'mon everybody, contact everybody you know in the rally world for info.

It beats me why folk pinch rally cars...what are they gonna do with it,as you say every last detail is logged and now the whole rally scene is looking for it!

i assume that if CCTV shows the freelander, it will also show the registration number?, make sure that the CCTV footage is saved as evidence and not re-used as is the norm with hotel security footage

Right last nite on the way to Guildford we saw a Blue LWB Transit towing a trailer with a White MK2 Escort in it with no markings going south through Haslemere at about 8pm. Flew past fast so we couldn't turn around to get the van reg. My mate said he thought the Escort it was an 'N' reg (old stlye so N at teh other end not front. Think it had bonnet and boot pins. Sorry that was all we saw. Was just a bit of a coincidence that we read this and saw a MK2 on a trailer so though anything is better than nothing!

I was with Nad, the Transit was the old shape and possible E/F reg with orange front indicators. The Escort had no graphics as far I'm aware and had the wide arches. Spotted near Chiddingfold(I think?) on the way to Guildford, Transit was heading towards Petworth. Appologies to the Transit driver if nothing is suspicious but thought we'd post the spot for the poor Escort owner.

REWARD FOR STOLEN RALLY CAR INCREASED
The reward for information leading to the return of Ricky Wheelers rally car has been increased to £3000. Ricky is getting more and more upset at the loss of his infamous car.

The Ford Escort would normally have had the Warrior Engine in place but it was Ricky's wish that his son Mark have a go at the various championships this year and had swapped the Warrior Engine over for a Pinto.

So e-mail everyone in your address book, tell everyone you know, if offered parts, phone Ricky to check the serial numbers, imagine it was your rally car.........Come on guys....somebody must know something, lets show that the network works and put a stop to this stolen parts market.....and remember the next to go could be yours.

 

Ricky wheelers MK2 escort has been recovered in one piece,thank you to all who helped try and recover this car to its rightfull owner.

The car was found after a police operation on a remote farmhouse in the Doncaster area.

CID are currently going over the car with a fine toothcomb and will be ready for Ricky to uplift this weekend.

Look forward to seeing it on the Jim Clark.
