Im trying to sell my scoob, so this outfit phones me up and says that theyve got around 6 buyers after a car like mine, the way he went on about it, youd think the phone was never going to stop ringing all weekend. it cost me 79 quid to have the car on their so called web site. Guess how many calls ive had, youve guessed it, none! What a load of bxllx.
OK, ive been sucked in, stiched up and spat out, a bloke that hasnt been cond for years, must av been my turn. Has this happend to any one else, or am i the only lemon? Second thoughts dont answer that one. Im well P***ed off!

Had my gti-r up for sale, every other phone call was from cardata(i think?), "hello sir we've got x amount of people for your car, just pay blah, blah"

It's all b*ll*cks (as you now know).

I never done it unlike you though

Cardata were on watchdog a coupla weeks ago, they had real trouble finding anyone who EVER had an enquiry...............

Question: if you wanted to buy a car how do you get on Cardata's list?? Where's it advertised, what's it cost? does it exist?

It's not a LOL matter as any number of people are getting conned every week.

David

That's right - I think that the Cardata people search through the local Auto Trader and ring you up promising that they have a list of potential buyers on file. All for a 'small' fee, of course

Gary, these guys are professionals and, pardon me, better people have been there before you and come away bleeding. Save your money and time and put it down to life's rich pattern of experiences.

I was had by a similar company,
They phoned late at night 9ish, there should be a law to protect us against these conmen.
Promised me free weekend trips away if they couldnt find a buyer(turned out you had to pay for meals, which were very pricey)
They gave me 14 days to pay, by which time I realised it was a con so I said I wasnt paying, then after 2 letters threatening me with ccj's I ended up paying,

ps I was also conned by the fat bloke in the electrical goods lorry in blackbush market, swines the lot of them!

Gary, give it maybe 10 days and they will phone you back offering their Gold service for more money which allows you a photograph and advetising on 60 odd websites.

Info above obtained from watching watchdog.

Evil *******s, i was led into the same trap once selling a jag xjs (was ready to try anything, you wouldnt believe how hard those things are to sell!). After no phone calls for what was supposed to be something stupid like 20 people after it I sent a letter to watchdog but no reply. I guess they finally got enough letters.

Leviathan,
Cardata were fetured on BBC1's Watchdog last week and everyone that they spoke to hadn't managed to sell their car through them either.

I think everyone who sells get calls from them. Last time was the usual X buyers in your area ready to buy...I told them I would pay double after the car was sold. They would not agree, not surprising as their crap

Seems to be a case of "what goes around comes around".
I remember Cardata being on a consumer program about 20 years ago (just!) for the same reason.

IMHO If your car is honest and is PRICED RIGHT it will always sell via Autotrader plus a local ad to back it up.

Lets all ring Cardata at one time or another telling them we have several companies on our books interested in buying them and that for £80 we will put them in touch.

I'm sure they'd get píssed.

I've been had by them too, except they aren't doing anything illegal, it's just totally immoral. I challenged them on it saying do you know what you people do, it's all a complete scam. The girl on the end of the phone was adamant that she had never had a complaint and the vast majority of their customers were delighted with the service.

Here is the challenge. Can you find one single person who has had a good experience with them and sold the car through them?

You'll be waiting a long time IMHO.

I had cardata and another one phoning up to sell me their services. not only did they print the adver wrong but I have never heard a thing from them since i paid for the service.
Complete waste of time, could have spent the £99 on a dumpvalve for the scooby.

Everyone who advertises on autotrader seems to be approached by them. Almost everyone around my area selling a decent car has been approached by them.

Would be interesting to find out if anyone has actually sold their car through them.

FYI, I bought a citroen saxo westcoast for my girlfriend a few months back, I did a search on www.fish4cars.co.uk I found 1 I liked but strangely this 1 didnt have any detials apart from ring this number etc, I rang the number they took MY details and then passed on the details of th guy selling the car. I bought the car and a few days l8a cardata sent me a letter saying if u buy a car privately that we have advertised you get a free 30day warrenty on basically EVERYTHING but u have to ring this number when u buy it, I rang up a day l8 and said Ive just bought this car etc and got my free warrenty for buying privately.

still sounds dodgy though. finiding the car on fish4cars and then having to ring some1 else up?

And also you only get your 50 pounds refunded if the person who buys your car takes finance with cardata. That's how it used to work...
