Total con artists and lying b@%&$!*s. Just to prove how much they bulls£%t:

My mate was selling his mint 2wd Sapphire cossie a few months ago and kept getting calls from them, they called one evening after we'd had a few beers so I took the call. They started off with the usual speil then the conversation went something like this

ME: i'm afraid I blew the engine up in it just after the ad had gone in

CARDATA: That's no problem sir, we have several people looking for a car like that with engine trouble.

ME: Yes but when the engine blew I lost control of the car and hit a wall, i've totally wrecked one side of the car.

CD: not to worry sir, we have a number of people on our books who would still be very interested in the car.

ME: another thing too, I needed the car on the road so i've had to put a 1.3 engine in just to keep it running.

CD: I'm looking at a list of buyers in your area at the moment who would be interested in the car sir.

ME: The thing is I can't except anyless than it's advertised for I need the money to pay off debts you see.

CD: That's still not a problem, we have details of people in your area who are looking for exactly that car sir. Do you want us to pass your details onto them?

ME: Yes you can do

CD: That's great sir, all we need is a payment from you of £79 today.

ME: Oh, I didn't realise I had to pay now. I'll have to think about it.

cue slight pause, followed by several obsceneties being hurled down the phone at them before putting the phone down

He still had them ring him back the next day too

If you paid via credit card, get onto the card company. Cardata have not delivered the service they promised, and the credit card company will refund you.

They will argue, but at the end of the day, the card company will refund you.

Exactly the same thing happened to me and I got sucked in too. Just like to you he was saying he had 6-7 people looking for a car exactly like mine. It was not until later that the scam was publicised. Perhap's we should pay them a visit in a group and put the fear of God up them.! Might even get some money back if they really get frightened.

Wink

I got the same phone calls from them.
First time I just said no. not interested. They phoned me back the next day and asked again. I told them could they hang on a minute as someone was at the door. After a cup of coffee and a ciggy I went back to the phone about 15 mins later and they were still there. The guy started his waffle again when I interrupted him and said someone at the door again can you just hold on a minute. He must have got the message this time and hung up.
Never heard from them again

I had two of these company phone me a couple of years ago offering exactly the same service so(stupidly )I agreed to take both of them up on it. Heard nothing off either of them until the bills arrived but paid the first one after a follow up phone call from one of them asking me to pay so that they could pass on the details of potential buyers. What a load of b@ll@cks, still didn't get one call from them or anyone to do with them. Got several letters from the other company threatening to take me to court but I rufused to pay and never heard from them again. Cheeky ba$$tard$

Question

If you add 'No Canvassers' to the advert are they breaking the law if they contact you?? or do they try anyway??

I have never been taken in by these - but, I reckon if you get desperate?????

Remember, you can sell ANYTHING, at ANYTIME - its just a matter of price!!

I had this problem when I was selling my last car.

I forgot to put down no agencies/telesales at the end of y advert and got these clowns on the end of the phone one day. I was extremely tempted and thought I might try to get some money off the 79quid fee so I said:

"I can't justify laying out 80quid on advertising my car, sorry"

He replied "Well sir, for today only I can do you the discounted deal of 27.99..."

I replied, "Are you being serious, you can knock 50quid off just like that??"

He said, "Yes sir, but only for today..."

Realising that this was more than a bit dodgy, I said "Thanks but no thanks, dont call me again, goodbye..."

They make it sound so tempting so its understandable that some people get taken in by the sales bullsh!t.

Cheers,
Grant

Edited to correct terrible spelling!!
