well i was recommended to have a panel filter fitted to my sport, apparently the induction kit is to close to the computer and it confuses it, but different tuners say different.

Due to the sensitivity of the MAF sensor, induction kits are not recommended, then again neither are panel filters...... so its either potential problems or no potential problems.... the difference in power in virtually zero anyway.
Your safest bet if you want a panel filter is to get an STi one from Scoobymania, these will fit MY99 onwards without any problems

when i got my my00 new was sold a ram air filter from a subaru dealer and as has been mentioned before it buggered my maf sensor

get a cold air intake with a cone filter and take my word for it there is a difference and i have run it for 25,000 miles no problem and also sounds a lot better than a panel filter

Cheers Matt - interesting thread.
Not got the car yet, but fingers crossed i`ll have it next week.

I used to run an induction filter on last mota, and we concluded that its only gain was the noise. - awesome though!

Matt,

I don't mind a nice induction noise.....but the K&N induction I've had fitted is WAY too noisy and is getting right on my nerves!!!

Just MHO.

Dom.
